Who is the best among Sachin-Kohli?
Virat Kohli shared Sachin’s record in one-day cricket in a series against Sri Lanka at home. Until now, legendary Sachin Tendulkar was the owner of the most centuries in ODI cricket at home. Kohli has broken Sachin’s record. King Kohli is waiting to share another record of Sachin. He is also on the verge of breaking Sachin’s record of total centuries in ODI cricket. Sometimes the question arises who is the best between Sachin and Kohli?
However, according to former India opener Gautam Gambhir, there were different rules of cricket during Sachin’s time. He also thinks that Kohli has got so many centuries due to the relaxation of the rules. Gambhir also expressed hope that Kohli will be able to score more centuries. Therefore, according to Gambhir, it is not right to compare the two generations.
In a recent interview to a TV channel, Gambhir said, “Look at the two two-time cricketers. The rules of cricket during Sachin’s time have changed a lot during Kohli’s time. To be honest, don’t just think about yourself. Sachin’s hundreds in the 50-over format are more than that. Virat will score many more hundreds. Kohli in the form he is in will record many more ahead. Rules have changed a lot now. Two generations should not be compared. He is the best in his time. There should not be unnecessary debates.”
During Sachin’s time it was played with one ball but now it is played with two balls. Gambhir also said that Kohli will break Sachin’s record in one-day cricket. “The rules of cricket have changed a lot. In earlier days, one ball was played. Now two balls are played. Five fielders are kept inside the 30-yard circle. It was not like that before. Kohli’s statistics are a witness. Giving, the best cricketer of that time in this format.”
Besides Gambhir, Sanjay Manjerekar is seen in that TV channel interview. According to him, he has no doubt that Sachin will one day be overtaken by Kohli. Sanjay said, “Sachin was an opener but Kohli is not an opener in ODIs. Like Sachin, he doesn’t start hitting from the first ball. So if you think about Kohli’s century, you have to look at the whole innings.
Sanjay also said “Kohli has batted at three most times in his cricket career. That should be kept in mind. I have no doubt that he will surpass Sachin one day with the pace that Kohli has. See him scoring one century after another in the new year. 50 overs ahead. There is a World Cup. The way he is batting, he can break many records and set new records.”
It should be noted that India will host the One Day World Cup this year. And King Kohli is in great rhythm in this one day cricket. But a few days ago, he was criticized for not being in rhythm. Kohli is performing well this year after regaining his lost rhythm last year. He scored two centuries last year and started this year with a century. And if this consistency continues, King Kohli can be India’s trump card in the upcoming World Cup.
