India is the world’s number one ODI team ahead of the ODI World Cup
The Indian team got great news before the World Cup. After T-20 cricket, India’s dominance is now in ODI cricket. India has overtaken New Zealand as the number one ODI team in the world. After their third and final ODI match against New Zealand at home, the Indians took the top spot.
Rohit Sharma’s team confirmed the series by winning the last one-day match against the Kiwis last Tuesday. The pair of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill ensured India’s victory in the match. This opening pair took India ahead by scoring 212 runs. In the end, India secured the series by winning by a big margin of 90 runs. And this has affected the ICC ranking. India has got a place as the number one team in the ODI ranking.
Team India whitewashed New Zealand in the three-match ODI series by defeating them in three consecutive matches. Tom Latham’s team lost their top spot as well as whitewash to India. New Zealand lost the top spot after losing their second match against India. England topped them. But after losing the last ODI match, India came to the top of the points table.
Before this match, India, New Zealand and England were at the same place in the points table. All three teams have 113 points. After defeating New Zealand, India’s points are now 114. England is second with 113 points. Australia dropped to third place with 112 points and New Zealand dropped to fourth place in the points table with 111 points. But ahead of England – South Africa ODI series. If England whitewash South Africa in the three-match ODI series, England will top India and come to the top spot.
It should be noted that the One Day World Cup is going to be held on Indian soil in November-December. And before that, the Indian team is in great form in ODI cricket. Rohit – Kohli are in their best rhythm. Team India also whitewashed Sri Lanka at home before New Zealand. Won against the Lankans by a record margin.
