Bangladeshi women team are confident to play well in the World Cup
In 2014, Bangladesh got the opportunity to play in the Women’s T20 World Cup for the first time. However, the Tigresses participated in the tournament as hosts. Exactly 9 years later, Bangladesh will play their fifth World Cup in South Africa. And in this event, with all their strength and ability, the captain of Team Bangladesh Nigar Sultana Jyoti expressed his confidence to play well.
Before the start of the World Cup, the ‘Captain’s Day’ was held in Cape Town. Where the captain of Bangladesh was also present along with the captains of other teams. Meanwhile, Jyoti talked about their excitement and expectations in the World Cup. She said, “To be able to play in a big event like the World Cup is a joy for all of us. We want to play well here. We want to fight with our best.”
However, after 2014, Bangladesh did not win another World Cup. That is why the Tigers have not yet proved themselves as a big power team. Their biggest limitation is not playing against big teams. Expressing disappointment over this, Jyoti said, “We don’t get a chance to play regularly against big teams like Australia or New Zealand. That’s why the preparation is not the best. We sometimes play against them on the world stage.”
Bangladesh will play against Australia, New Zealand and South Africa in this World Cup. And the Bangladesh captain is taking it as the best stage to prove ourselves. Jyoti also said, “In the World Cup, we will get a chance to play against some big teams. Hopefully, we can put up a fight against them. It will be a test of our strength. We are all ready to show our best.”
Jyoti also sought the support of the audience for a good game. The request of the Bangladesh captain to the cricket lovers, everyone should support the women’s team as well as the men’s team. With everyone’s support and their good game, the Tigers want to bring honor to Bangladesh. They want to bring the elusive victory in the last three World Cups to this World Cup. And the cricketers are keeping their confidence in this mission.
