Kohli announces the name of the captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore women’s team
Women’s IPL is going to start for the first time. The auction has already been completed. Aggressive Indian batsman Smriti Mandhana was sold at the highest price in the auction. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bought her for 3 crore 40 lakhs. This cricketer who was sold at the highest price in the IPL auction also got the responsibility of the captain of the team.
However, RCB gave quite a bit of a surprise to Smriti Mandhana. Virat Kohli himself announced Smriti as the captain. One number 18 gave the lead to another 18. The matter has created a lot of noise on social media. Many called it a commendable initiative. Recently RCB released a video on social media. And there it is seen that Kohli is announcing the name of Smriti as the captain.
In the video, Kohli said, “I have led a team from the front for 10 years. But being a leader is not just about leading the team, the responsibility is also to create a good culture. That culture will last for years. Faf du Plessis handled the responsibility very well last year. Now a Number 18 is handing over the responsibility to another number 18. Smriti Mandhana is the captain of RCB women’s team.”
Meanwhile, Mandhana is excited to get the new responsibility. She said in the video, “I have got a new responsibility. RCB has given me this responsibility. It’s a big thing for me. And I will try to do it well. My aim is to make RCB champions for the first time. I hope the fans will be with us. Will give us support.”
A battle ensued over Mandhana at the auction. But Bengaluru finally fought to get her in the team. And since then, their plan was to make Mandhana their captain. Because Mandhana has the ability to lead along with aggressive batting. Mike Hossain, Director of Cricket Operations, RCB said, “Smriti Mandhana is a great batsman. Besides, she has leadership qualities. We have planned to organize the team since then by taking her as the captain.”
It should be noted that a total of six teams will participate in the first edition of the Women’s IPL. Like the men, the women’s IPL teams will also be city-based. Which includes cities like Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bangalore, Guwahati. Only time will tell which team will win the first title in the end.
