Anderson shows excellence even at the age of 40

Anderson shows excellence even at the age of 40

England’s star pacer James Anderson is now 41 after crossing 40 years. Usually, at this age when the cricketers are not seen playing international cricket, England’s pacer is doing the best performance. Not only is he playing well, but this pacer is also proving his superiority. This time, Anderson became the top in the ranking of ICC test bowlers. Age is just a number to him.

In the recently released Test rankings by ICC, Anderson’s name is seen at the top of the list of bowlers. Seeing that, the eyes are supposed to rise to the forehead! Unbelievable but true, this English pacer continues to conquer the field even in the twilight of his career. Anderson became the number one bowler in the day-night Test against New Zealand at Mt Manganui, taking 7 wickets.

As the number one Test bowler, Anderson set a different precedent. That is because of his age. As the oldest bowler (40 years 207 days), a bowler topped the rankings after a long 87 years. Earlier in 1936, at the age of 44 years and 2 months, Clary Grimmett became the leading bowler in Tests. But the best bowler at the oldest age (50 years and 10 months) is Bart Ironmonger.

Meanwhile, there are doubts about how long Anderson can stay at the top. Currently, the English pacer’s rating point is 866. With 864 rating points, Ravichandran Ashwin is breathing down his neck. Indian spinners are in good form in the ongoing Boarders – Gavaskar Trophy. There are still two matches left. If he can do well in those matches, Ashwin can come up at the top.

However, it is not that Anderson will sit idle. He has one more Test left in the series against New Zealand. Currently, considering the edge of his ball, the possibility of success in that test can be said to be very high. In that case, if he can pick up several wickets against the Kiwis, there is an opportunity to increase the rating points in front of the number one Test bowler. Even at this age, England’s pacer is praised for showing magic in 22 yards of the field.
