Rahul will return to rhythm, if given more chances: Sourav
Lokesh Rahul’s off-form is raising questions about his place in the team this time. On the other hand, there is talk of taking Shubaman, who is in great form, into the team. But now who should be given a chance, the failed Rahul or the successful Shubman? Former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly expressed his opinion on this matter.
Rahul can play comfortably anywhere, in opening or middle order. But now his time is going bad. That’s why this star opener of India is being criticized. And this is natural, said Sourav Ganguly. He said, “If you don’t score runs for India, then you have to listen to criticism. It’s normal. Not only Rahul, many cricketers have been criticized before.”
However, this former president also explained why Rahul is being given a chance despite his failure. He said, “All the cricketers in the team are under a lot of pressure now. The board is keeping an eye on everyone. And maybe Rahul is important to the team management. At the end of the day, it all depends on what the coach and captain think. Maybe Rahul is going through a bad time, but maybe the team management believes he is good.”
Sourav is not in favor of dropping Rahul just because he has performed poorly in a few matches. He said, “But Rahul has done well in the past. And that’s why everyone’s expectations are high on him now. And because he’s playing badly now, everyone is criticizing him. But I hope, if Rahul is given more opportunities, he will surely regain his lost rhythm.”
Sourav also explained the reason for not returning to Rahul’s rhythm. He said, “The ball spins on India’s wicket, there is less bounce. That’s why it’s difficult for the batsmen to get back into rhythm. But Rahul should not give up. I think he lacks technique as well as confidence. And he needs to look at that.”
Meanwhile Sourav also talks about getting Shubman’s place. According to him Shubman is in rhythm, but he has to wait more. He said, “Shubaman is doing well. And I am sure he will get many opportunities in the coming days. The team management has faith in him. That is why he is getting opportunities in white ball cricket. But I think the management is now saying that he has to wait more.”
Meanwhile, amid so much discussion and criticism, Rahul went to Mahakal temple with his wife. They also performed Mahakal puja there together. Some of the netizens claim that Rahul may have reached the temple of Mahakal to regain his lost rhythm.
