Peshawar Zalmi vs Karachi Kings (Match 17) – Highlights

Peshawar Zalmi has pulled off an impressive 24-run win over Karachi Kings in the 17th match of PSL 2023 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium courtesy of Rovman Powell’s brilliant batting style. He was adjudged player of the match for his devastating innings of unbeaten 64 off 34 balls smashing 6 fours and 4 sixes.

After winning the toss, Karachi Kings captain Imad Wasim decided to field first sending Peshawar Zalmi to bat. Peshawar Zalmi scored 197 runs, losing 5 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. In response, Karachi Kings’ innings stopped at 173 runs after losing 8 wickets.

Batting first, Zalmi’s batsmen could not get off to a good start due to the controlled bowling of the Kings’ bowlers. Opener Mohammad Haris returned to the dressing room on the first ball of the innings bowled by Mohammad Amir. After that, captain Babar Azam, who came to the crease at one down, was also dismissed on the 5th ball of the over before opening his account of runs.

In the next over, pacer Aamer Yamin bowled a Maiden over but could not scalp any wickets. Then again in the 3rd over of the innings, Amir took the wicket of the batsman Saim Ayub (1). As a result, Zalmi’s score stood at 7 runs after losing 3 wickets in the first 3 overs.

However, Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Haseebullah Khan took the team forward from there. Zalmi returned to the match thanks to the pair of 82 runs of both of them. Wicketkeeper-batsman Haseebullah returned to the pavilion with 4 fours and 3 sixes, he made 50 runs from 29 balls.

Hard hitter batsman Rovman Powell gave Kohler-Cadmore worthy support on the wicket after Hasebullah’s departure. These two put up a partnership of 85 runs for the 4th wicket. Kohler-Cadmore remained undefeated until the last ball of the innings after Powell returned to the dugout after playing a stormy inning of 64 runs from 34 balls.

Kohler-Cadmore’s unbeaten 56-run innings off 45 balls was studded with 5 fours and 3 sixes. At the other end of the wicket, Amir Jamal was unbeaten with 13 runs off 5 balls. Mohammad Amir took the highest number of 4 wickets for the Kings. Besides, Tabraiz Shamsi picked up 1 wicket.

Chasing a huge target of 198 runs, the Kings’ batsmen made a good start. They picked up 55 runs losing only one wicket in 6 overs of power play. But after that, Zalmi’s bowlers turned the match in their favour. The scoreboard of the team that lost 1 wicket in 55 runs went to 95/5 after 12 overs.

From there, captain Imad Wasim was showing the team some hope of victory. But in the end, he could not bring up the victory for his team. Imad played an unbeaten inning of 57 runs off 30 balls for the team. There were 10 fours and 1 six hit on his innings.

Besides, opener Matthew Wade scored 53 runs off 41 balls with the help of 9 boundaries. Azmatullah Omarzai and Aamer Jamal snapped up the most number of 3 wickets each for Zalmi. Moreover, spinner Mujib ur Rahman took 2 wickets.

Bangladesh vs England at a glance

  • When attempting to reach a 210-run Target, England lost 7 wickets.
  • Recently, Bangladesh has displayed remarkable ball control at home.
  • Both teams have a strong batting lineup, but England’s lineup has batsmen who bat aggressively.

Bangladesh Team Preview & Playing Squads

Bangladesh trounced the men in blue in their most recent home ODI series, led by Liton Das. Bangladesh will be optimistic going into the England series with Tamim Iqbal back in the lineup and in charge.

In a game that could decide their fate, they will be expected to step up and perform. Bangladesh would lose the series with one more defeat. At this stage, Tamim Iqbal’s performance also becomes vital, and he must strike hard at the top. The bowling offence is the only consistent component of this team. The three most important bowlers in this lineup are Ebadot Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Shakib Al Hasan.

playing Squads

Tamim Iqbal (c), Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Najmul Hossain Shanto, Litton Das, Mahmudullah, Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Afif Hossain, Taijul Islam, Ebadot Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman

England Team Preview & Playing Squads

Even though the outcome may not have been what was anticipated, Jos Buttler will be happy with the victory. England was predicted to easily win after controlling the game with the ball and chasing a modest target of 210 runs. The opposition’s performance with the ball persisted, though, and they tormented the English batting order. After three of England’s top four batters were sent back to the dugout for just 45 runs, Dawid Malan led the team in the fightback.

England is anticipated to do significantly better than what we saw in the previous game with players like James Vince, Jason Roy, and Jos Buttler in the batting order. In the bottom order, Moeen Ali is another player who has a significant impact on a game with limited overs. The home team will struggle against Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, and Chris Woakes’ controlled pace attack.

Jos Buttler (c & wk), Philip Salt, Jason Roy, James Vince, Dawid Malan, Moeen Ali, Will Jacks, Adil Rashid, Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood

Bangladesh vs England outfield report

In the past, the pitch has benefited the batsmen, but recently, the bowlers have benefited greatly from the surface. The hitters will find it difficult to time their swings, giving the bowlers the upper hand.

On the day of the game in Dhaka, it will be a sunny day with a high of 33 degrees Celsius.

In the 122 ODI matches played on this field, teams who bowl first have won 66 of them. Both teams would like to bowl first if they win the toss because it is challenging to post a respectable total on this surface.

After winning the toss and coming down to bat in the morning, the opener Tamim Iqbal made a great start. Tamim was stubborn from the beginning. Liton was also trying to become stubborn. But he was unlucky. This opener of the Bangladesh team got out by LBW after hitting a six. He departed with 7 runs off 15 balls.

Tamim Iqbal became a bit dull after Liton left. Although Nazmul Hossain Shanto was taking the Bangladesh team’s innings forward. But disaster struck in the 10th over. Tamim was bold. This opener of the Bangladesh team got out after scoring 23 runs off 32 balls.

After Tamim Iqbal got out, Mushfiqur came to bat at number four. Paired with Nazmul Hossain Shanto. But after playing 34 balls, he got out after scoring only 16 runs. Then Nazmul Hossain Shanto paired with Mahmudullah Riyad. It was this pair that showed a glimmer of hope. After making a partnership of 53 runs, they were separated. Shanto returned with a catch off Adil Rashid, scoring 58 runs off 82 balls. Mahmudullah Riyad also tried to play good innings but he got out after scoring 31 runs off 48 balls.

Will Jack take 1 wicket after bowling 5 overs for the England team? Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid took 4 wickets in total. The remaining 5 wickets were taken by three pacers Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer, and Mark Wood.

Bangladesh was dreaming of winning even with little capital. Chasing 210 runs, the English lost 5 wickets for 103 runs. After that, Dawid Malan spent a lot of time with Moeen Ali. The match was gradually tilting towards England. At that time, England lost 7 wickets for 161 runs. But Malan kept a cool head and brought the match out of that place. They reached the port of victory with the help of his batting.

For England, Malan remained unbeaten on 114 runs off 145 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes. Jack scored 26 runs off 31 balls. English opener Phillip Salt scored 12 runs off 19 balls. Besides this, Moeen Ali scored 14 runs and Adil Rashid scored 17.

Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators outfield report

The captain who won the toss in both games at the Gaddafi Stadium opted to bat first. If either skipper wins the toss before this match, we believe they will choose to bat first.

A high temperature of 27 degrees Celsius and partly cloudy weather are forecast.

The recent games here have shown that the pitch is excellent for batting. As the in-form Qalandars take on the Gladiators with big batting potential, it will be another high-scoring thriller.
