England and Bangladesh met in the 1st match of the 3-match T20 series yesterday (March 9). Both teams entered the race with the confidence to stay ahead of the series. Batting first in that match, England could not advance very far in front of the Bangladeshi bowling attack. They set a target of fewer than 160 runs.

Later, chasing that target, Bangladesh reached the port of victory with 6 wickets in hand before the scheduled 20 overs ended. On the other hand, England had to leave the field with a loss. Along with this, Nazmul Hossain Shanto won the man of the match title due to his excellent batting.

The toss was in favour of Bangladesh at the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. After winning the toss, Tiger captain Shakib Al Hasan invited England to bat. The visitors had a good start.

Opener Phil Salt and Jos Buttler scored 80 runs in the opening pair of 10 overs. Nasum Ahmed broke the pair. Salt got caught out (38 off 35 balls).

Then David Malan (4) was caught at long-on while hitting Shakib for a six. Buttler was still playing freely. He hit Hasan Mahmud for a six, making a 32-ball fifty, and then hit the next ball for another six.

Ben Duckett also started well. Mustafiz bowled this batter who made 20 from 13 balls with a great delivery. England was still in a good position. It was 135 runs for 3 wickets after 16 overs.

The hosts made a great start. After being absent for eight years, Rony Talukder and the dashing Liton Das rejoined the team to impress the English bowlers. Rony and Liton scored 33 runs off 21 balls in the opening pair. Rony was bowled without understanding Adil Rashid’s googly. He used 14 balls to score 21 runs.
