Bangladesh vs England (2nd T20I) – Highlights

England and Bangladesh met in the 2nd match of the 3-match T20 series yesterday (March 12). Bangladesh went into this match confident of winning the series and England wanted to level the series. Batting first in that match, England collapsed in front of the Bangladeshi bowling attack. Somehow they cross the 110 mark.

Later, chasing that target, Bangladesh reached the port of victory with 4 wickets in hand before the end of the scheduled 20 overs. On the other hand, England had to leave the field after losing the series. Mehidy Hasan Miraz won the man of the match title due to his excellent bowling.

One history that has been created is winning against England for the first time, another history is calling. Bangladesh has never played a bilateral T20 series against the English before. This was the first time, and the first time there was a golden opportunity to win the series.

Bangladesh Luck is favored for the second T20 of the series in Mirpur. After winning the toss, Shakib Al Hasan of the Tigers chose to put England into bat.

The bowlers did their job very well in the 1st innings. Mehidy Hasan Miraj has twisted England’s strong batting lineup with off-spin magic. On the final ball of the innings, England was declared to be all out for 117 runs.

Bangladesh pressured the English in the beginning. Dawid Malan, who scored 5 runs from 8 balls, was the victim of Taskin Ahmed in the third over of the innings. Then Phil Salt continued to play. In their six-over power play, England scored 50 runs while losing just one wicket. Shakib, however, struck at the conclusion of the power play. Returned salt to the dressing room (19 balls 25).

Then, in the eighth over, Hasan Mahmud bowled English skipper Jos Buttler (4) with a superb yorker. Moeen Ali (15 off 17) tried to handle the pressure, but in the very next over he was caught on the boundary while hitting up Mehidy Hasan Miraz. With a margin of 7 runs and the loss of 4 wickets, England began to struggle.

Ben Duckett and Sam Curran took control after that. From 32 balls, they scored 34 runs as a pair. But in the 15th over of the innings, Mehidy Hasan Miraz struck a double blow in the English camp.

Sam Curran (12 off 16) and Chris Woakes (0) went ahead without understanding Miraz’s turn and fell into the trap of stumping. Six English wickets were lost for 91 runs.

Ben Duckett was the only recognized batter. He fought until the very last round. However, in the end, Duckett hit the ball of Mostafizur Rahman and the ball floated in the sky and he got caught out. He took 28 off 28 balls.

Miraz bowled a career-best performance. He only needed 12 runs in 4 overs to take 4 wickets. One wicket each for Shakib, Hasan Mahmud, Taskin, and Mustafiz.

In the run chase, Liton Das and Rony Talukder scored 15 runs in the first two overs. Yet Liton fell short once more in this series. Playing irresponsible pull, the opener (9 off 9 balls) was returned by Sam Curran. Then Rony (9 off 14) played an ambitious shot and was caught out and returned to the dressing room. Bangladesh lost 2 wickets for 27 runs. In 6 overs of the power play, the Tigers’ collection was 32 runs for 2 wickets.

Towhid was playing with confidence. His partnership of 29 runs off 31 balls was likewise formed with Nazmul Hossain Shanto. But, Rehan Ahmed, the favored English legspinner, grabbed the ball and pinned Hridoy. Hridoy was caught at point while cutting Rehan’s outgoing delivery (17 off 18 balls with 2 boundaries).

Mehidy Miraz, who got promoted, played effective innings of 20 runs off 16 balls with 2 sixes. After that, Shakib (0) and Afif Hossain (2) were quickly sent back to the dressing room by the English.

But Shanto fought till the end. The left-handed batsman left the field unbeaten on 46 runs off 47 balls with 3 boundaries. On the other hand, Taskin Ahmed (unbeaten 8 from 3 balls) confirmed the victory by hitting two consecutive boundaries. In the end, they left the field with 7 balls in hand.
