Chennai Super Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants Team Preview

Chennai Super Kings

Despite their bowlers’ best efforts, Chennai Super Kings tried to claw their way back in the first match of IPL 2023 against Gujarat Titans. After failing to get off to a solid start, CSK will want to make changes to their starting Eleven if they want to score their first points of the season in front of their fans.

CSK will be eager to improve their middle batting order and death bowling, which is why Shivam Dube and Tushar Deshpande may be called up. Given the condition of the surface, MS Dhoni may start Ajinkya Rahane or Dwaine Pretorius.

Lucknow Super Giants

Despite skipper KL Rahul’s struggles, Lucknow Super Giants managed to score 193 runs against Delhi Capitals in Match 3. Mark Wood, the player of the Match, made headlines with his 5-wicket haul in 4 overs. The British also contributed only 14 runs to his team’s commanding 50-run victory.

Quinton De Kock is scheduled to join the LSG camp after April 3 due to national obligations. KL Rahul, on the other hand, may select Naveen-ul-Haq in the starting Eleven after Jaydev Unadkat showed to be pricey in his three overs against DC in Match 3. Otherwise, Mayank Yadav might be a similar Indian change. After posing a total of 193 on the scoreboard, the batting order is set to remain the same.

IPL 2023 Cricket Prediction | Match 6: Chennai Super Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants     MA Chidambaram Stadium

The venue in question has a moderately long boundary length. Also, MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai has always been a good pitch for batsmen since the ball bounces unexpectedly. This is why both skippers plan to bat first on this pitch.

While there is a 4% possibility of rain, the temperature will be between 34 and 28 degrees during the game hours.

The surface at this location is hard and dry, and it tends to deteriorate as the game progresses. To put it another way, while spinners can get some turn later on, fast bowlers can be smashed for runs.

Lucknow Super Giants vs Delhi Capitals (Match 3) – Highlights

At the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Cricket Stadium, the host Lucknow Super Giants defeated the visiting Delhi Capitals by 50 runs on Saturday (April 1). Batting first, Lucknow relied on the batting of Kyle Meyers to get 193 runs despite losing 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Then Mark Wood bowled out Delhi in reply, allowing them to score 143 runs while losing 9 wickets. Hence, Lucknow triumphed by 50 runs. Besides, Mark Wood’s outstanding bowling helped him win the man of the match award as well.

Lokesh Rahul, the captain of Lucknow, was asked to bat by David Warner, the captain of Delhi, after winning the toss. Batting first, Rahul, the captain, was dismissed early in the innings. In 12 balls, he only managed to score 8 runs.

Rahul was dismissed after the team scored 19 runs, but on the other side, Jamaican Kyle Myers unleashed a cyclone on the Delhi bowlers. Deepak Hooda was acting as a spectator on one side of the action. Hooda, however, was stopped after the squad scored 98 runs with his 17 runs off 18 balls.

Then Kyle Myers went out after playing storming innings of 73 runs from 38 balls at the team’s 100 runs. With two boundaries, he hit seven sixes. When Myers was dismissed with a flurry of batting, Delhi picked up wickets at regular intervals but was unable to slow Lucknow’s run rate.

For Lucknow, Nicholas Pooran scored 36 runs off 21 balls, Marcus Stoinis scored 12 runs off 10 balls, Ayush Badoni scored 18 runs off 7 balls, and Krishnappa Gowtham hit a six off one ball. Krunal Pandya has 15 runs from 13 balls and was still undefeated.

On the other hand, despite being thoroughly defeated in the first game, Delhi Capitals kept Mustafizur Rahman. In the opening game, the visiting club did not keep Mustafiz in the starting lineup. He is not even included among the other players on the bench. Nonetheless, Delhi noticed a cutter master shortage during the game. The ball misfired for Chetan Sakaria. In 4 overs, he conceded 53 runs while taking 2 wickets. Khaleel Ahmed, a left-handed bowler, finished with 2 wickets and 30 runs in 4 overs. In addition, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel both claimed one wicket.

In T20, taking the field after winning the toss will turn out to be a mistake! Fielding after winning the toss has become a self-evident rule in T20 cricket. On the second day of the IPL, both teams, however, won the toss but lost the match after choosing to ball first.

Came down to bat for a target of 194 runs the Lucknow pacers attacked the Delhi batsmen from the very beginning. Where Wood and Avesh Khan started their astonishing bowling and at the team’s 48 runs, Prithvi Shaw (12), Mitchell Marsh, and Sarfraz Khan (4) exited the field. Among them, Marsh was unable to even access the account of runs.

After a disastrous start, Rilee Rossouw and Delhi’s captain David Warner both managed to score a couple of runs. Warner, however, used 48 balls in order to score 56 runs. The seven four innings did nothing except narrow Delhi’s loss margin. With 20 balls, Rossouw scored 30 runs. Among the remaining batters, Axar Patel outperformed the others by scoring double-digit runs. In 11 balls, he scored 16 runs. Delhi ultimately totaled 143 runs in the allowed 20 overs. They suffered a defeat as a result and exited the field.

Mark Wood, an English spinner from Lucknow, claimed 5 wickets for just 14 runs in 4 overs. Both Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi claimed two wickets.

Punjab Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders (Match 2) – Highlights

Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders have not had a good start to the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They have been defeated by 7 runs against Punjab Kings in their first match by the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method.

Chasing the target of 192 runs set by the Kings in Mohali on Saturday (April 1), Knight Riders collected 146 runs after losing 7 wickets in 16 overs. After that, the match could not be played on the field due to rain, and the Kings won by 7 runs due to the DLS method.

Knight Riders did not get off to a good start on this day. They lost three top-order batsmen scoring just 29 runs. Coming into the attack in the second over of the innings, Arshdeep Singh sent back Mandeep Singh (2) and Anukul Roy (4) between 4 balls.

Afghan batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz started well. He was playing as a debutant in the IPL, but after playing an inning of 22 runs from 16 balls, he had to return after being bowled by Nathan Ellis. Venkatesh Iyer and skipper Nitish Rana tried to bring the team back into the fight for the fourth wicket.

However, their 46-run pair was broken by Zimbabwean all-rounder Sikandar Raja, who came down to play IPL for the first time in his career. Nitish returned to the dressing room after scoring 24 runs off 17 balls.

Then Rahul Chahar came into the attack and sent new batsman Rinku Singh (4) back to the pavilion. Andre Russell and Venkatesh brought the team back into the fight with a sixth-wicket partnership. Knight Riders lost rhythm again when Russell fell victim to Sam Curran after playing an inning of 35 off 19 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Following Russell’s path, Venkatesh also left the crease. He returned to the dressing room after scoring 34 runs off 28 balls by giving away a catch on Arshdeep’s delivery. Then Shardul Thakur and Sunil Narine came to the crease. Both started to challenge Punjab’s bowlers by hitting sixes.

When 46 runs were needed in the last four overs to win, the match was interrupted by rain. In the end, Knight Riders had to accept a defeat by 7 runs in the DLS system if the game was not played on the field. Shardul scored 8 runs off 3 balls with a six, and Narine remained unbeaten with 7 runs in 2 balls with a six.

Arshdeep Singh was selected as the player of the match after he snapped up 3 wickets for just 19 runs in 3 overs. Besides, Sam Curran, Nathan Ellis, Sikandar Raza, and Rahul Chahar took one wicket each.

It rained even before the start of the game in Mohali. Due to this, KKR captain Nitish Rana decided to bowl after winning the toss. However, the Knight Riders’ bowlers failed to prove the correctness of the captain’s decision.

Kings’ young batsman Prabhsimran Singh took on experienced Tim Southee and Umesh Yadav from the beginning. This opener scored 23 runs in the first two overs of the innings.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa came to the crease after Prabhsimran’s dismissal. He formed a partnership of 86 runs with captain Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan scored 40 off 29 balls before being bowled by Varun Chakaravarthy. Bhanuka played the highest innings of 50 runs for the team before being dismissed by Umesh. His innings of 32 balls were decorated with 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Although the middle order and lower order batsmen could not play big innings, the Kings collected a big score of 191 runs after losing 5 wickets at the end of the allotted 20 overs in an effective inning by the batters.

Tim Southee took the maximum number of 2 wickets at the cost of 54 runs in 4 overs for Knight Riders. Apart from this, Umesh Yadav, Sunil Narine, and Varun Chakaravarthy picked up one wicket each.

Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians Team Preview

Royal Challengers Bangalore

In the past three IPL seasons, Royal Challengers Bangalore has never finished outside the top four. They will be certain that they can win this game right away.

Wanindu Hasaranga and Josh Hazlewood, two of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s most effective bowlers, won’t be available for this game. Hazlewood is anticipated to miss the first seven games of the IPL 2023, therefore Hasaranga is completing the white ball international series in New Zealand.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians still have a team consisting of match-winners of the highest caliber despite their extremely dismal 2022 season. However, this is an extremely challenging first game.

Mumbai Indians would be thrilled to have Jofra Archer back in the IPL after a dismal 2022 season. The English right-arm quick bowler, who missed the entire tournament the year before, might make a big impact on the team this time around.
