Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals (Match 4) – Highlights

Sunrisers Hyderabad couldn’t produce any competition from the beginning going down to bat for a huge target of 204 runs. The team scored only 52 runs losing 6 wickets in 11 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s team was knocked out of the fight there. And with that, Rajasthan Royals started the 16th season of IPL with a big win.

Batting first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, the Royals collected a big score of 203 runs. In response, the Sunrisers’ innings stopped at 131 runs. As a result, Sanju Samson’s team left the field with a huge victory of 72 runs.

After losing the toss, three batsmen from the top order laid the foundation for the Royals’ big total. The Royals scored 85 runs in 6 overs of the power play with the devastating batting of the two openers Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Buttler picked up his half-century off just 20 balls. His fastest half-century in IPL was off 18 balls, against Delhi in 2018. However, Buttler could not boost the innings more after fifty. After playing a devastating inning of 54 runs off 22 balls hitting 7 fours and 3 sixes, he was bowled by Fazalhaq Farooqi and returned to the pavilion.

However, the team’s scoring rate did not decrease. Captain Sanju Samson made a partnership of 54 runs with Jaiswal. Jaiswal returned to the dressing room scoring 54 runs off 37 balls with the help of 9 boundaries. After that, the Royals lost several wickets at regular intervals along with the decrease in the run rate.

Devdutt Padikkal (2) and Riyan Parag (7) could not even touch double-digit figures. Sanju Samson, who came down to the crease in one-down, played an inning of 55 runs off 32 balls and was dismissed by T Natarajan. His innings were played with 3 fours and 4 sixes.  In the end, Shimron Hetmyer remained unbeaten with 22 runs from 16 balls with 1 four and 1 six. As a result, the Royals got a huge collection of 203 runs after losing 5 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs.

T Natarajan and Fazalhaq Farooqi took the maximum number of 2 wickets each for the Sunrisers. Also, Umran Malik picked up 1 wicket. In the match, the Sunrisers could not create a chance to win even once in the run chase. Aiming to score more than ten runs per over, they faced Trent Boult’s bowling cannon at the start. The New Zealand left-arm pacer took the wickets of Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi alongside bowling a maiden in the first over.

Yuzvendra Chahal squeezed Hyderabad’s batting line-up further after Boult’s fiery spell. The 32-year-old leg spinner took the wickets of Harry Brook (13) and Mayank Agarwal (27).  Losing 6 wickets for just 52 runs, Sunrisers still managed to pass a hundred thanks to impact player Abdul Samad’s 32 off 32 balls and Umran Malik’s 19 off 8 balls innings.

Yuzvendra Chahal scalped the highest number of 4 wickets with only 17 runs in 4 overs for the Royals. Besides, Trent Boult took 2 wickets and Jason Holder and Ravichandran Ashwin took 1 wicket each. Moreover, Jos Buttler was selected as the player of the match after playing a devastating inning.

Rajasthan Royals are now at the top of the points table with a big win in the first match of the season. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad is at the bottom of the standings with this big defeat.

Bangladesh vs Ireland Team Preview

Bangladesh

Bangladesh has been quite dominating at home, not only in this series but also against stronger opponents. They hope to win the one-off test match against Ireland after dominating the ODIs and T20s. Bangladesh is not in the best of form heading into the test match. They are coming off a five-match losing record. They will seek to win this test game handily in their first encounter in 2023. With a handful of the players going for the IPL after the test game, it will be intriguing to see how they progress.

Litton Das and Mominul Haq were Bangladesh’s standout batting talents. Shakib Al Hassan, Taijul Islam, and Mehidy Hassan will be in charge of the bowling department. When compared to batting, bowling appears to be quite powerful, and many eyes will be on them to succeed.

Ireland

On the other hand, the Irish will hope to win the test match to cap off a dismal trip to Bangladesh. Ireland won the third T20I against the hosts and will look to build on that. In terms of form, Ireland has also not been at their best in test cricket. They have lost three consecutive test matches. They stated that their last test was in 2019, which is not a reasonable standard to measure any squad by. However, they will be energized by their recent T20 victory and hope to carry that enthusiasm to the test.

The batting order will be heavily reliant on Skipper Andy Balbirine and James McCollum. Because they are the team’s most experienced players, allrounder George Dockrell and wicketkeeper Peter Moor will have to split the load. Mark Adair and Andy McBrine will be in charge of the bowling section. The bowling is still inexperienced and will need to put up a performance of a lifetime to help Ireland win.

Teams batting first have won 12 of the 24 matches played, while teams bowling first have won only 9 games. Teams will attempt to win the toss and bat first.

On Day 2, there is a 25% chance of rain, which could cause disruptions. Other than that, there is no likelihood of rain for the next four days. The sun will shine, and temperatures will hover around 34 degrees Celsius.

Mirpur’s pitch is generally bowler-friendly; however, it is likely to deteriorate over time. Spinners should play an important role in this ground.

Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians (Match 5) – Highlights

At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, the fifth IPL match pitted Royal Challengers Bangalore against Mumbai Indians. After losing 7 wickets while batting first, Mumbai Indians amassed 171 runs because of the flamboyant batting of Tilak Varma. In response, Bangalore won by 8 wickets in just 16.2 overs, defeating the opposition’s goal (with 22 balls in hand).

The previous season also had a highly precarious situation for Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians. They were unable to escape that tight scenario even at the start of the current season. On the other hand, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis’ batting spree helped Royal Challengers Bangalore to defeat Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians. After losing to Royal Challengers Bangalore yesterday, Mumbai lost their 11th straight first IPL game of any season.

At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Royal Challengers skipper Faf du Plessis sent off Mumbai to bat first after winning the toss. Kohli’s Bangalore crushed Rohit’s Mumbai from the very beginning. Mohammad Siraj and Reece Topley’s bowling made Mumbai appear powerless. Batting first, what Rohit lacked on that particular day was his innings; he managed just one run from ten balls before getting out by Akashdeep Singh. Behind the wicket, Dinesh Karthik took that catch. Ishan Kishan was bowled by Siraj for 10 runs off 13 balls, and Cameron Green was dismissed for 5 runs by Topley.

One of the top players in Indian cricket, Suryakumar Yadav, went out for 15 runs. Tilak Varma, who stepped up to bat at number five, was unable to be stopped by the Bengalore’s bowlers. With 46 balls, he beat around the wicket for 84 runs. Hit 9 boundaries and 4 sixes. Varma eventually succeeds and was unbeatable.

Besides, no other batsman could score a significant number of runs. With just 13 balls, Nehal Wadhera scored 21 runs. Towards the conclusion, Arshad Khan scored 15 runs off 9 balls. In addition, Hrithik Shokeen scored 5 runs and Tim David scored 4 runs. In the end, Mumbai set a goal of 172 runs after the allotted 20 overs were completed with a loss of 7 wickets.

For Bangalore, Karan Sharma claimed two wickets. One wicket apiece was taken by Mohammad Siraj, Reece Topley, Akash Deep, Harshal Patel, and Michale Bracewell.

Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis’ batting enabled Bengaluru to win. Tilak Varma’s 84 runs from 46 balls, with retaining the edge, was not awful despite the opening tragedy. But in Kohli and du Plessis’ bat fury, the collection flew like straw.

To start the bat, Du Plessis and Virat Kohli established a fantastic partnership of 148 runs from 89 balls. Du Plessis was unbeaten at 82 runs off 49 balls with 6 boundaries and 5 sixes and Kohli was dismissed after scoring 73 runs off 43 balls with 5 boundaries and 6 sixes.

If Dinesh Karthik hadn’t been out for 0 runs, the winning margin could have been 9 wickets. On 12 runs, Maxwell was undefeated. At the conclusion of the game, they had won with 5 extra runs.

Moreover, Mumbai’s Arshad Khan and Cameron Green each claimed one wicket.
