Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians Team Preview

Delhi Capitals

The Delhi Capitals have continued to produce strong individual performances but have yet to convert them into winning team performances. In this encounter, though, they will face a side that is lacking in confidence.

West Indies T20 captain Rovman Powell was one of three changes to the Delhi Capitals XI for Saturday’s loss to the Rajasthan Royals. Mitchell Marsh, Sarfaraz Khan, and Aman Khan were absent, there will come Manish Pandey and Lalit Yadav.

Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians may not have the finest bowling attack at the present, but their batting should be enough to defeat many of the tournament’s opponents. In this match, they have a very good chance of winning.

Jofra Archer was kept out of Mumbai Indians XI as a precaution before their loss to Chennai Super Kings. However, given his injury history over the past two years, we doubt any risks will be taken if there are any concerns ahead of this encounter.

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Punjab Kings (Match 14) – Highlights

Yesterday cricket fans were almost close to witnessing the first century of the 16th season of IPL. However, the Punjab Kings opener and captain Shikhar Dhawan could not fulfill that make that happen at last. He scored an unbeaten 99 off 66 balls. Dhawan missed the first century of this year’s IPL by 1 run.

But Dhawan’s storm did not prevail in front of the host Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rahul Tripathi and skipper Aiden Markram led Sunrisers Hyderabad to their first win of the season as they defeated Punjab Kings by 8 wickets. They played two matches before and lost both.

Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad faced each other in the 14th match of IPL 2023 on Sunday (April 9). After losing the toss and batting first, the Kings scored 143 runs after losing 9 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. In reply, the Sunrisers reached the port of victory after losing only 2 wickets with 17 balls remaining.

Chasing an easy target of 144 runs, Sunrisers lost 2 wickets at the beginning. 27 runs came from the team’s opening pair. Opener Harry Brook, who scored 13 runs, was dismissed by Arshdeep Singh in 3.5 overs. Another opener, Mayank Agarwal returned to the dressing room with 21 off 20 balls being a victim to Rahul Chahar. After 2 wickets went down for 45 runs, Rahul Tripathi and captain Markram took the helm of the team.

The duo put up an unbroken match-winning stand of 100 runs for the 3rd wicket. Tripathi remained unbeaten scoring 74 runs off 48 balls for the Sunrisers. He hit 3 sixes with 10 boundaries. On the other hand, Markram left the field with the victory after playing an unbeaten inning of 37 runs off 21 balls with the help of 6 boundaries.

Earlier, the Kings’ batsmen came under pressure from the start due to the Sunrisers bowlers’ bowling attack at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Bhuvneshwar Kumar trapped opener Prabhsimran Singh lbw on the very first ball of the match.

Then South African left-arm pacer Marco Jansen dismissed Matthew Short (1) and Jitesh Sharma (4) in two consecutive overs to leave Punjab’s score on 22/3. From there, Dhawan, who opened the innings, made a pair of 41 runs with English all-rounder Sam Curran.

Then the magic of Mayank Markande began. The right-handed leg-spinner had single-handedly demolished Punjab’s batting line-up. He started wicket-hunting with Sam Curran who scored 22 runs. Then one by one Markande took the wickets of Shahrukh Khan (4), Rahul Chahar (0), and Nathan Ellis (0). He conceded only 15 runs in a magical spell of 4 overs.

Umran Malik also bowled well alongside Markande’s Magic. Although he gave away several runs in the last over, he took two wickets in the first three overs. Kings’ team lost 5 wickets in these 25 runs to score 63 to 88. Kings’ score was 88 for 9 when Nathan Ellis became Markande’s fourth victim in the last ball of the 15th over.

Dhawan became the hero of the team from there. He added an IPL record of 55 runs for the tenth wicket with Mohit Rathee. Rathee’s contribution to the pair is only 1 run. However, he got the opportunity to play 2 balls. Dhawan was finally unbeaten on 99 runs at one end of the wicket. Dhawan, who started the last over with 91 runs, reached 99 with a six off the last ball.

Dhawan hit 12 fours and 5 sixes in a 66-ball inning and single-handedly scored 66.25 percent of the Kings’ innings, which is the second-highest in IPL history. Thanks to the captain’s heroic innings, the Kings could finally make a fighting score of 143 runs.

Apart from Mayank Markande, Umran Malik and Marco Jansen took 2 wickets each for the Sunrisers. Besides, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 1 wicket for the winning camp. However, despite the team getting defeated, Shikhar Dhawan was selected as the player of the match for his brilliant innings.

Gujarat Titans vs Kolkata Knight Riders (Match 13) – Highlights

In the thirteenth IPL game, Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders faced off in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium (April 9). In the final ball of the innings, Kolkata took an incredible 3-wicket victory while chasing the 205 runs that Gujarat had scored in that thrilling game. Moreover, Rinku Singh’s outstanding batting earned him the title of Man of the Match.

Returning to the match’s exciting plot, Rashid Khan stole the show by claiming a hat-trick in the 17th over of the second innings. In the Gujarat Titans’ camp, there were indications of victory. But with striking consecutive sixes in the final five balls of the final over, Rinku Singh handed Kolkata Knight Riders an improbable victory.

Gujarat’s batting brought about the start of this amazing match. His batsmen demonstrated why Rashid Khan chose to bat after winning the toss. Particularly with the help of Shubman Gill, Sai Sudarshan, and Vijay Shankar, the previous champion Gujarat Titans set a lofty 205-run mark in front of Kolkata Knight Riders.

Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill established an opening partnership of 33 runs in the beginning. With the help of three fours, Wriddhiman Saha was out after scoring 17 runs in 17 balls. Shubman Gill then contributed to the team’s 100 runs by scoring 39 runs off 31 balls with the help of five fours.

With three boundaries and two sixes, Sai Sudarshan scored 53 runs in 38 balls. Vijay Shankar, though, was the greatest storm. He batted just 24 balls in his 63-run inning. Hit 4 boundaries and 5 sixes. In addition, Abhinav Shankar took 14 runs off 8 balls. In the end, Gujarat Titans scored 204 runs despite losing 4 wickets and adding 16 extra runs.

For Kolkata Knight Riders, Sunil Narine took 3 wickets for 33 runs in 4 overs. Besides, Suyash Sharma claimed one wicket.

In reply, Kolkata lost two wickets Gurbaz (15 off 12) and N Jagdeesan (6 off 8) at the team’s 28 runs. Nitish Rana departed the field having amassed 45 runs off 29 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes. Then the Gujarat spinners were assaulted by the impact cricketer Venkatesh Iyer, who had just come down for the second wicket. Up until the fourth ball of the game’s 16th over, he controlled the situation.

To win, KKR needed 51 runs from 26 balls. However, after 15.5 overs, Venkatesh was caught out by Shubman Gill. With 83 runs off 40 balls and 8 fours and 5 sixes, his innings were over. The contest proved easy for the Riders despite Venkatesh’s absence thanks to Andre Russell, Shardul Thakur, and Sunil Narine.

Rashid Khan, however, used his whirlwind magic in the 17th over to completely change the course of the game. A hat trick was recovered from Russell, Narine, and Shardul with three straight balls. The Afghan spinner had just achieved his first IPL hat trick. He took the field as captain in Hardik Pandya’s absence, however, he failed in his first three attempts with the ball. He took nothing in the first three overs, surrendering 35 runs. Nonetheless, he managed to take 3 wickets in his final over of the game for just 2 runs.

Gujarat supporters would have thought that their team was headed for a third straight victory following Rashid’s spectacular over. Yet perhaps no one could have predicted the drama that would unfold in the final over. As Kolkata needed 29 runs from 6 balls to win in the final over, Rinku Singh showed his magic. Umesh Yadav strikes Rinku with one run off Yash Dayal’s first ball.

The batter then changed the course of history. He smashed five consecutive sixes, giving Yash a night of nightmares. As a result with 3 wickets, Kolkata prevailed and Gujarat had to quit the field with a loss having 204 runs.
