Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders (Match 28) – Highlights

Delhi Capitals (DC) finally got their first win of the season after five consecutive losses in the Indian Premier League (IPL). They defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 4 wickets on Thursday night (April 20).

Batting first after losing the toss, the Knight Riders were all out for 127 in the allotted 20 overs. Chasing 128 runs in reply, David Warner’s team achieved the target by losing 6 wickets in 19.2 overs.

Chasing an easy target, the rest of the top-order batsmen failed with the bat except DC captain Warner. After Prithvi Shaw was dismissed scoring 13 off 11 balls, Mitchell Marsh returned to the dressing room getting 2 off 9 and Philip Salt could make 5 off 3. Warner alone guided the team forward. When he was dismissed for 57 off 41 balls, the team needed just 35 runs.

But even this simple equation was made difficult by Knight Riders’ bowlers Varun Chakaravarthy, Anukul Roy, and Nitish Rana. KKR kept the fight alive till the last over with their bowling skills. In the end, DC easily reached the target of victory with Manish Pandey’s 23-ball 21 and Akshar Patel’s 22-ball 19. They saw their first win in the tournament after five consecutive defeats.

Varun Chakaravarthy picked up 2 wickets for 16 runs for Knight Riders. Besides, Anukul Roy spent 19 runs and Nitish Rana spent 17 runs to take 2 wickets each.

KKR entered the field with a new opening pair at the Arun Jaitley Stadium earlier. England’s Jason Roy was partnered with Bangladeshi’s Litton Das. Although Roy was at the crease for a long time, Litton got dismissed in the second over playing his debut match in IPL.

He opened his account with 4 runs in his first ball. The wicket-keeper batsman faced 2 more balls in that over by Ishant Sharma. Mukesh Kumar came into the attack when Litton again went on the striking end. He positioned the bat on a bouncer on the last ball of his over and gave away a catch at short mid. Litton got out with 4 runs off 4 balls.

After that, KKR started losing wickets very quickly due to the fierce bowling of the DC bowlers. Venkatesh Iyer (0) made his way back for the team’s 25 runs, skipper Nitish Rana (4) got out for the team’s 32 runs, Mandeep Singh (12) departed while Knights’ score was 50 runs, Rinku Singh (6) got back at team’s 64 runs, and Sunil Narine (4) for team’s 70 runs.

KKR lost a pair of wickets for the team’s 93 runs. Kuldeep Yadav’s deliveries dismissed opener Roy and Anukul, who entered the field as an impact player. Roy scored 43 off 39 balls but Anukul returned to the pavilion before opening his account of runs.

Caribbean all-rounder Andre Russell supported the team with the bat when the Knight Riders were in danger of collapsing around the 100-run mark. Russell, who survived till the last ball, played an unbeaten innings of 38 runs on 31 balls. Where there was 1 four as well as 4 sixes.

Ishant Sharma, Anrich Nortje, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav took the highest number of 2 wickets each for DC. Mukesh Kumar also picked up a wicket. Ishant Sharma has also been adjudged the Player of the Match courtesy of his brilliant spell (4-0-19-2).

Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (Match 27) – Highlights

On Thursday, April 20, Punjab Kings hosted Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL Match 27. Royal Challengers Bangalore set a decent target when they batted first. But before the allotted 20 overs were completed, Punjab Kings declared defeat. They lost, and in the 19th over, they were forced to leave the field. In addition, Mohammad Siraj’s outstanding bowling earned him the honor of being named man of the match.

In the first innings, 16.1 overs were played by both the openers of RCB. They made most of the runs in the first pair. Royal Challengers Bangalore relied on this formidable duo of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis to score 174 runs for 4 wickets. In other words, for Punjab Kings to win, 175 runs must be needed.

After losing the toss, Bengaluru’s two openers, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli, began the day. Faf du Plessis, the team’s usual captain, gave the role of captain in this game to virat kohli as he acted as an impact player. The pair added 137 runs to Bangalore’s run total.

Despite forging a strong partnership, Kohli and du Plessis were unable to control Punjab’s bowling. Bengaluru’s batting suffered a minor setback as Kohli departed the game with 59 runs off 47 balls, with 5 fours, and 1 six. As soon as Kohli went back, Maxwell’s wicket was lost off Harpreet Brar. Besides, Du Plessis was having a good game.

However, the process of increasing the run rate causes him to lose his wicket. Before getting bowled out by Nathan Ellis, the Protea amassed 84 runs off 56 balls, including five fours and the same number of six.

Nobody else was able to recover the team’s deficit after he left. Bengaluru crumbled under the strain. In just 5 balls, Dinesh Karthik scored 7 runs. Ultimately, they set a goal of 175 runs, plus an additional 12 runs. Bangalore made 98 runs in the first 11 overs but only 76 runs were made in the final 9 overs!

For Punjab, Harpreet Brar grabbed 2 wickets and gave 31 runs in 3 overs. In addition, Arshdeep Singh and Nathan Ellis both claimed one wicket. Despite failing to pick up any wickets, Sam Curran and Rahul Chahar did a good job in bowling.

Punjab Kings failed to keep the hope alive. The team ultimately lost because of Mohammad Siraj’s stormy bowling. Finally, Royal Challengers Bangalore, led by Virat Kohli, prevailed by 24 runs.

175 runs were the desired total. Impact player Prabhusimran Singh, the opener, scored 46 runs off 30 balls with three boundaries and four sixes. However, Punjab Kings lost 7 wickets for 106 runs, nearly losing the game.

Jitesh Sharma, the number seven batsman, then made an attempt. The likelihood of an astounding batting of this wicketkeeper, the rate of winning the match was also increased. But with 10 balls remaining in the inning, he was the last batter to be struck out. In an inning of 41 runs off 27 balls, Jitesh hit 3 sixes in addition to 2 fours.

Mohammad Siraj bowled effectively. With only 21 runs in 4 overs, the Bengaluru right-arm bowler claimed 4 wickets by himself. He made a run out as well. Two wickets were taken by Wanindu Hasranga. In addition, Harshal Patel and Wayne Parnell both claimed one wicket.
