Ireland vs Bangladesh (2nd ODI)

Bangladesh and Ireland met in the second ODI at Chelmsford in England on Friday (May 12). It rained before the commencement of the match. That’s why the match was reduced from 50 overs to 45 overs. Batting first, the Irish collected 319 runs after losing 6 wickets in 45 overs. In response, Bangladesh reached the port of victory by losing 7 wickets in 44.3 overs.

India scored 247 against Australia in 1983 in an ODI at Chelmsford. It was the highest team total at this venue so far. However, in the second ODI against Bangladesh, Ireland broke the record of Team India by scoring 319 runs. Then Bangladesh broke the Irish history of collecting 320 runs.

Batting with the aim of scoring big runs, Bangladesh got a shock at the beginning. Captain Tamim Iqbal was out for 9 runs. And Liton Das returned with 21 runs off 21 balls. He was dismissed for the team’s 40 runs. After Liton, Shakib Al Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto made a partnership of 61 runs off 47 balls.

In the 17th over, Shakib was caught by George Dockrell in the last ball of Curtis Campher. He returned to the dressing room scoring 26 runs off 27 balls, after that Shanto and Towhid Hridoy’s brilliant batting display turned around Bangladesh’s innings. Their partnership scored 131 runs off 102 balls. And from there, team Tiger took the driver’s seat in the match.

Shanto picked up the first century of his ODI career off 83 balls. And Hridoy made the second fifty of his career. But Hridoy got out after Shanto’s century. He was dismissed for 68 off 58 balls. Shanto returned to the pavilion after playing a match-winning innings of 257 runs for the team. He scored 117 runs off 93 balls with 12 fours and 3 sixes.

Finally, the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim completed the rest of the work. He scored an unbeaten 36 off 28 balls with the help of 4 boundaries and left the field winning the game for his team. George Dockrell and Curtis Campher took the maximum number of 2 wickets each for the Irish. Besides, Mark Adair, Joshua Little, and Graham Hume took 1 wicket each.

getting down to bat first after losing the toss, Ireland lost the wicket in the first over of the innings. Opener Paul Stirling (0) returned to the pavilion after being caught off pacer Hasan Mahmud on the fifth ball of the over. After his departure, Stephen Doheny and Andrew Balbirnie tried to build the Irish innings. But when the two added 15 more runs to the scoreboard, Hasan struck again. This time Doheny (12 off 21 balls) became his victim.

After that, Balbirnie and Harry Tector’s pair started spinning the wheels of Ireland’s runs. Tector got life in the team’s 56 runs and got a half-century off 52 balls. Bangladesh got the wicket of Balbirnie immediately after scoring the team’s hundred. The Irish skipper was caught by the Tigers’ wicketkeeper for a personal 42 off pacer Shoriful Islam.

Lorcan Tucker, who was batting aggressively, was sent back to the dressing room by Shoriful. Tucker scored 16 runs off 11 balls. Then Taijul Islam trapped Campher (8) lbw for the team’s 167 runs.

After Campher’s departure, Ireland continued to collect runs rampantly keeping wickets safe. Tector and Dockrell were both terrifying. Tector completed his century with 93 balls. The batsman became more devastating after scoring the century. In the end, Tector returned to the pavilion after scoring 140 runs off 112 balls. He played this outstanding innings with 7 fours and 10 sixes.

Dockrell, on the other hand, remained undefeated in the end. He played in a stormy innings of 74 runs off 47 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. Mark Adair scored 20 runs. The team’s total reached 319 runs. Bangladesh secured a great victory by crossing that total. Along with that, the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Mumbai Indians vs Gujarat Titans (Match 57) – Highlights

Mumbai Indians took on Gujarat Titans at home in the 57th match of the IPL on Friday (May 12). Batting first in that match, Mumbai Indians set a huge target in the 20 overs set by Suryakumar Yadav’s batting. Chasing that target, Gujarat Titans could not reach the target as the scheduled over ended. As a result, they have to leave the field with a loss of 27 runs. Along with that, Suryakumar Yadav won the Man of the Match title with his excellent batting.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Suryakumar Yadav has consistently shone. But despite recording several fifty-point performances over the previous ten seasons in this franchise league, he was unable to reach a century. During the game against the Gujarat Titans, he finally reached the required milestone.

On Friday, Suryakumar scored his first IPL century. Based on his unbroken innings of 103 runs against Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians received a sizable collection. At the end of the allotted over, they had 218 runs after losing 5 wickets.

Batting first, the squad scored 61 runs in the opening thanks to Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma. With the help of four fours and one six, Kishan scored 31 off 20 balls. And Rohit was caught out by Rashid after scoring 29 runs off 18 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Nehal Wadhera then made an effort to control the crease. Rashid, though, did not give this batter much time to continue. Before the Afghan spinner bowled him, he amassed 15 runs off 7 balls with 1 four and 1 six. But Rashid was unable to defeat Suryakumar. He started off gently, keeping one end of the crease. Together with Vinod, they scored 65 runs for the fourth wicket. Later, with the help of two fours and two sixes, Vinod was removed for 30 runs off 20 balls.

Then Tim David, who wanted to accompany him, soon departed the crease. They lost two wickets in a row, but Suryakumar still maintained command of the game. He eventually stole his first IPL century after gradually seizing control of the game.

Suryakumar scored his milestone with a six off the final ball of the innings, going undefeated for 49 balls and 103 runs. 11 fours and 6 sixes were scattered across his innings. In his eleventh IPL season, Suryakumar got a century in the 135th game. In 119 innings, he has 20 half-centuries.

Only Rashid Khan for Gujarat was successful with the ball. He bowled 4 overs and claimed 4 wickets for 30 runs. Mohit Sharma secured the final wicket. However, the other bowlers struggled.

Gujarat was under pressure early on as they were batting with a target of 219 runs. Within 26 runs, all three of the top-order batsmen came back. Shubman Gill (6), Hardik Pandya (4), and Wriddhiman Saha (2). After that, David Miller and Vijay Shankar were in charge of withdrawing the inning. But Gujarat once more suffered when Shankar was out for only 29 runs. Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan then played fantastic innings, but they were unable to significantly cut the gap.

Miller hit four fours and two sixes in his 41 runs off just 26 balls. In just 13 balls, Rahul Tewatia scored 14 runs. Rashid Khan had a fantastic performance, scoring 79 runs off just 32 balls. He also slugged 10 sixes and three fours. After losing 8 wickets, their innings was eventually dismissed at 191 runs.

Akash took 3 wickets for Mumbai Indians. Piyush and Kumar took 2 wickets each. Jason Behrendorff also took 1 wicket.

Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings at a Glance

  • In their last five games, Punjab Kings have only won two.
  • DC recently displayed excellent ball-handling skills.
  • Punjab’s bowlers are insufficient to protect a total.

Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings Team Preview

Delhi Capitals

Despite losing their most recent game, the Delhi Capitals had been playing exceptionally well. In this matchup against Punjab Kings, we anticipate them to be competitive.

Lalit Yadav was included in the starting lineup for Delhi Capitals’ most recent match against Chennai Super Kings, and we anticipate that he will continue to play. Although David Warner, the captain, started the competition in great shape, he hasn’t recently scored many significant points. His position is not in danger, though.

Punjab Kings

Although Punjab Kings made a solid start to the campaign, they have had trouble winning their last two games. To win this game, they will need to return to their top form.

On Monday, Punjab Kings lost to Kolkata Knight Riders on the very last ball after Arshdeep Singh bowled an outstanding last over that almost turned the game around. We, therefore, do not anticipate many, if any, modifications in this game.

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Lucknow Super Giants at a glance

  • Lucknow Super Giants have won both of their matches against the Sunrisers this season, including one earlier in the season.
  • Sunrisers Hyderabad have won only one of their five home games, a poor record.
  • The Lucknow Super Giants have depth in their batting and bowling, which offers them an advantage.

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Lucknow Super Giants Team Preview

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad may be at the bottom of the table, but this is their game, and a win will propel them into the top six. They will be confident in front of their home crowd.

Glenn Phillips of New Zealand finally got a chance for Sunrisers Hyderabad in their final game, replacing the injured Harry Brook. Phillips capitalized on his opportunity with a great 7-ball 25-run performance, and he will almost certainly keep his spot in the lineup for this match.

Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants have fallen down the standings and are still recovering from KL Rahul’s injury, which has caused him to withdraw from the tournament. This will be another difficult game.

The Lucknow Super Giants made one alteration before their match against the top-of-the-table Gujarat Titans last weekend. Afghanistan spinner Naveen ul-Haq was replaced at the top of the order by South African keeper-batter Quinton de Kock.

During this year’s competition, batting first has been a successful and popular strategy at this location. We anticipate that both teams will want to bat first in this encounter.

Saturday afternoon in Hyderabad is expected to be partly cloudy with low humidity and temperatures in the high 30s. There is no rain in the forecast.

Spinners have had the most success this year on this surface at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, which has less pace than other pitches. We anticipate a par score of little more than 165.

Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals (Match 56) – Highlights

It was only a matter of time for Yuzvendra Chahal to claim the record. This leg spinner of Rajasthan Royals (RR) has become the highest wicket-taker of the IPL by taking 4 wickets in yesterday’s match. Then Yashasvi Jaiswal set the record for the fastest fifty in IPL. The Royals blew away hosts Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on a record-making night for the duo.

The Royals crossed the target of 150 runs set by KKR with 41 balls and 9 wickets in hand. Jaiswal smashed 12 fours and 5 sixes to play an unbeaten innings of 98 runs off 47 balls. Captain Sanju Samson was unbeaten on 48 runs off 29 balls hitting 2 fours and 5 sixes.

Both teams started the game with an equal 10 points from 11 matches. However, the trajectories of the two teams have been reversed—the Knight Riders had won 3 of their last 4 matches and the Royals had 5 losses in their last 6 matches. Even as RR came out of that losing circle, KKR’s playoff equation became tougher.

Chasing the target, Jaiswal took on Nitish Rana in the first over. The Royals’ opener scored 26 runs in that over from the Knight Riders skipper. Jaiswal set the record for scoring the highest runs in the first over in the IPL without extras.

Earlier in the history of IPL, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had the highest number of runs in the first over. They put up 27 runs in the first over against Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2011. But 7 runs came from extras in that over. Once in 2013 KKR took 26 runs against MI, there was an extra run too. But this time, Jaiswal’s 26 runs did not have a single extra run.

KKR managed to pick up RR’s only wicket in the second over as Jos Buttler returned to the dressing room getting run out. But that wicket did not have any impact on Jaiswal’s batting. He scored a total of 13 balls to prove that he is in flying form. This batsman from Uttar Pradesh has set the record for the fastest fifty in the history of IPL by picking up his half-century from 13 balls.

Before Jaiswal, KL Rahul had the record for the fastest half-century in 14 balls. He made that record against Punjab Kings in 2018. Pat Cummins also scored a 14-ball half-century in 2022.

Even after the fifty, Jaiswal’s brilliance did not diminish. There was a chance to own the record for the fastest century. However, this batsman was focused on taking the team to the port of victory by responsible batting. In the end, Jaiswal and Samson’s unbroken partnership of 121 runs from 69 balls took the team to the verge of victory.

After losing the toss KKR’s openers got off to a fairly good start to bat, though both were dismissed in the powerplay. Both returned with two excellent catches. Jason Roy (10) was caught at deep square leg by Shimron Hetmyer, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (18) at mid-off by Sandeep Sharma. Trent Boult was the bowler in both cases. As a result, KKR scored 37 runs at the end of 6 overs.

Gurbaz hit Sandeep for two consecutive sixes in the fourth over, but KKR had to wait another 29 balls to get the next boundary. Venkatesh Iyer, who scored 10 runs off the first 20 balls, signaled to come out of the shell by hitting two consecutive sixes in the tenth over bowled by Ravichandran Ashwin.

KKR also hinted at increasing the run rate. In the very next over, skipper Nitish (22) turned into another great catch by Hetmyer off Yuzvendra Chahal. With this wicket, Chahal surpassed Dwayne Bravo (183) to become the highest wicket-taker in IPL.

Andre Russell couldn’t do much, but Venkatesh was trying to increase the scoring rate. But he became Chahal’s second victim scoring 57 runs off 42 balls in the 17th over, and KKR also lost their way from there.

In the same over, Chahal sent off Shardul Thakur (1) to the dressing room and scalped the wicket of Rinku Singh (16) as he came to bowl his next over. KKR lost 4 more wickets to add just 22 runs in the last 4 overs. In the end, KKR managed to score 149 runs by losing 8 wickets.
