Ireland vs Bangladesh (3rd ODI)

Ireland needed 10 runs in the last over to get the victory. However, the Irish batsmen could not score the desired amount of runs due to Hasan Mahmud’s great bowling. As a result, the Tigers won by 4 runs in the last match of the series. Through this, visiting Bangladesh won the three-match ODI series by 2-0.

After losing the toss and batting first, Bangladesh was bowled out for 274 runs in 48.5 overs at Chelmsford in England on Sunday. In response, Ireland’s innings stopped at 270 runs after losing 9 wickets in 50 overs.

At one time, it seemed that the hosts would win the match very easily. At one point, Ireland needed runs less than the number of balls in hand. However, Mustafizur Rahman and Hasan Mahmud bowled well in the last few overs. In the end, the Tigers grabbed the match with the great bowling of these two bowlers.

Ireland’s captain won the toss and decided to field first, which propelled the Tigers to bat first. Batting at the beginning, Bangladesh collected a fighting capital courtesy of Tamim-Mushfiq. Tamim played the highest innings of 69 runs for the team with the help of 6 boundaries. 45 runs from 54 balls came from Mushfiqur Rahim’s bat. There were 3 fours and 1 six on his innings.

Besides, Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored 37 off 39 balls and Najmul Hossain Shanto collected 35 off 32 balls, and Liton Das made 35 off 39 balls. In these short cameos, the Bangladesh team was all out for 274 runs in 48.5 overs. Mark Adair took the maximum number of 4 wickets for Ireland. Also, Andy McBrine and George Dockrell took 2 wickets each, and Craig Young picked up a wicket.

The match seemed to be taken as an experimental match and two new faces were introduced to the visiting camp. Opener Rony Talukdar and pace-bowling all-rounder Mrittunjoy Chowdhury made their ODI debut in the Tigers jersey on this day. Besides, Mustafiz played for Bangladesh for the first time after the IPL.

Chasing a challenging target of 275 runs, Ireland lost wickets early on. Opener Stephen Doheny (4 runs off 16 balls) returned to the dressing room with the team’s 17 runs. Then another opener, Paul Stirling made a great pair of 109 runs for the second wicket with captain Andrew Balbirnie.

This partnership made the team dream of victory. However, pace bowler Ebadot Hossain separated this pair. His victim, Ireland captain Balbirnie returned to the pavilion with 53 runs off 78 balls. Off-spinner Miraz did not allow Stirling to score more than 60 runs, who continued his batting rampage from the beginning of the innings.

Ireland was under some pressure after losing these two wickets but Harry Tector and Lorcan Tucker kept the team on the road to victory. These two batsmen put together a partnership of 79 runs for the 4th wicket. But suddenly Ireland’s batting line-up collapsed like a house of cards. Mustafiz and Hasan Mahmud’s bowling cannons confused the Irish.

Tector scored 45 runs from 48 balls and Tucker scored 50 runs from 53 balls, but the hosts survived the match. Ireland needed just 10 runs from the final over to win. Adair (20 runs from 10 balls) who continued his batting rampage at the end of the innings was bowled in the first ball of Hasan Mahmud’s over. Ireland got a single run off the next ball.

Hasan took a wicket again on the third ball. McBrine was his victim this time. The Irish needed 6 runs off the last ball to register a victory. The hosts had one wicket in hand. Ireland couldn’t get more than a single run off Hasan Mahmud’s last ball. As a result, Bangladesh left the field with a 4-run victory in a tense and exciting match.

Mustafizur Rahman took the highest number of 4 wickets for the team. He was also awarded the player of the match. Besides, Hasan Mahmud took 2 wickets whereas Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Ebadot Hossain took 1 wicket each. Moreover, Shanto has been adjudged the player of the series by collecting 196 runs in two matches.

Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (Match 60) – Highlights

Rajasthan Royals (RR) blew away Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the previous match they played. Where Yashasvi Jaiswal made the record for the fastest half-century in IPL. But in the very next match, the Royals saw the reverse of the coin. Samson & Co. faced a big loss in an unprecedented batting failure against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Chasing the target of 172 runs given by RCB on Sunday (May 14), the Royals were bowled out for 59 runs in just 10.3 overs. RR fell behind in the play-off battle after losing this game by a huge margin of 112 runs. They are now placed 6th in the standings. On the other hand, RCB has moved up to 5th place in the points table by going far ahead in net run rate with this great victory.

RR scored the third-lowest total in the history of the IPL tournament in this match. They also have the second-lowest team collection in the IPL. RR was all out for the lowest 58 runs in their history in the IPL held in South Africa in 2009.

However, RCB still holds the record for the lowest all-out in IPL history. They were bowled out for 49 against KKR at the Eden Gardens in 2017. RCB made another record on this bad day of RR. As the first team in the IPL, RCB has achieved the feat of winning by a margin of more than 100 runs four times.

Earlier, RCB was not comfortable after winning the toss and batting first. On this day too, Royal Challengers got a challenging score thanks to the top order. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis scored 50 runs in the opening partnership. But this former captain of India failed to play a big innings on this day. After scoring 18 runs off 19 balls, he was caught by Jaiswal off KM Asif.

Then Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell continued to drag RCB’s innings. Du Plessis became Asif’s second victim with 55 off 44 balls. His innings had 3 fours and 2 sixes. Mahipal Lomror (1) and Dinesh Karthik (0) returned to the dressing room with a gap of one ball in the over after the departure of the captain. Adam Zampa took the wickets of both.

Maxwell was then dismissed for 137 runs in 17.3 overs. He became the victim of Sandeep Sharma by scoring 54 runs in 33 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. RCB then capitalized on the fightback mainly courtesy of Anuj Rawat’s unbeaten innings of 29 runs off 11 balls. He played this innings with 3 fours and 2 sixes.

In response, RR failed unsatisfactorily with the bat. Jaiswal, who is in great form, returned with a golden duck. Even, Jos Buttler could not open the run book. This is the 11th instance in IPL, where two openers of a team got out for 0 runs. This is the second time that such an incident has happened in the case of RR.

Captain Sanju Samson scored 4 runs. Only two batters scored double-digit runs in the Royals’ innings. Shimron Hetmyer scored the highest 35 runs off 19 balls for the team. Where there were 1 four and 4 sixes. Besides, Joe Root scored 10 runs.

Wayne Parnell scalped 3 wickets for RCB conceding just 10 runs in 3 overs. He was also selected as the player of the match. Besides, Michael Bracewell and Karn Sharma got 2 wickets each. Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell picked up 1 wicket each for the winning side.

Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders (Match 61) – Highlights

Chennai Super Kings took on Kolkata Knight Riders at home in the 61st match of the IPL on Sunday (May 15). Batting first in that match, Chennai Super Kings set a moderate target in the allotted 20 overs. Chasing the target, Kolkata Knight Riders reached the target before the allotted overs ended. As a result, Chennai Super Kings had to leave the field with a loss of 6 wickets. Along with that, Rinku Singh won the Man of the Match title with his excellent batting.

Must win at any cost in order to keep one’s playoff hopes. With such an equation, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings began their match yesterday. Then, by easily winning that game, Kolkata maintained its chances of finishing in the top four.

With this victory, Shah Rukh Khan’s team Kolkata has 12 points after 13 games, moving them up to seventh in the standings. However, Kolkata does not have control over the outcome of the playoffs. Next Saturday, Kolkata will face the Lucknow Super Giants in the league’s final game. However, Kolkata might be eliminated from the IPL before that game.

Chennai, on the other side, has fared well in the playoff race despite losing this game. With 15 points from 13 games, Dhoni’s team is in second place. If Chennai had won, the playoffs would have been guaranteed for them.

Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat. After playing the full 20 overs, his team scored 144 runs for 6 wickets. Ruturaj Gaikwad who scored 17 runs off 13 balls with the help of 2 fours left the field first. Then 2 more wickets fell at the team’s 66 runs. With the help of 1 four and 1 six, Ajinkya Rahane left the field after being caught out with 16 runs from 11 balls and Devon Conway returned to the dressing room with 30 runs from 28 balls with the help of 3 fours.

Then Ambati Rayudu was bowled out by Narine for 4 runs. Moeen Ali left the field after scoring 1 run in the 11th over. With the last 2 balls left, Ravindra Jadeja also returned to the dressing room with 20 runs. Besides, Shivam Dube was unbeaten with 48 runs from 34 balls, batting at number five. He also hit 1 four and 3 sixes. In the end, they set a target of 145 runs with 6 runs extra.

Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine took 2 wickets each for Kolkata. Besides, Vaibhav Arora and Shardul Thakur took 1 wicket each.

With 9 balls remaining and 6 wickets in hand, Kolkata exceeded the 145 runs that the Chennai hosts had set as their goal. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was lost by Kolkata in the first over of the run chase. From 4 balls, the Afghan opener scored 1 run. In the third over, Venkatesh Iyer, who had scored nine runs in four balls, returned to the dressing room. The loss of Jason Roy (12 off 15), who left the team at 33 runs in the fifth over, put Kolkata under a lot of pressure.

Under this circumstance, by scoring a combination of 99 runs for the fourth wicket, Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh were able to salvage Kolkata. Captain Nitish was still unbeaten at 57 runs off 44 balls (6 fours and 1 six) when Rinku was bowled for 54 runs off 43 balls with four fours and three sixes. On the boundaries of the Kolkata captain, Kolkata scored the winning run.

Deepak Chahar single-handedly took three wickets for 27 runs in 3 overs for Chennai Super Kings.

Gujarat Titans vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Team Preview

Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans were badly beaten by Mumbai Indians (MI) in their previous match, but they were able to take some positives from the loss. This season, they have won after each of their losses, and we expect the same to happen again.

GT made no changes ahead of their defeat to MI at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday, and we anticipate the team management to react calmly to that result. The Titans have played some of the best cricket this season, and we expect them to use the same lineup in this encounter.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad require an incredible run of results to remain in the tournament, as they may be mathematically eliminated following this visit to the top of the table side.

The Sunrisers made only one change ahead of their previous match on a dry field at Eden Gardens, with Vaibhav Arora leaving out and Anukul Roy coming in. SRH have no fresh injuries to report ahead of this encounter.
