Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings (Match 67) – Highlights

Delhi Capitals took on Chennai Super Kings at home in the 67th match of the IPL on Saturday (May 20). Batting first in that match, Chennai Super Kings set a huge target in the allotted 20 overs. As the permitted overs came to a conclusion, though, Delhi Capitals were unable to attain their goal. As a result, they left the field with a huge loss of 77 runs. Along with that, Ruturaj Gaikwad won the Man of the Match title with his excellent batting.

The Chennai Super Kings have already entered the playoffs.. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, were the first to depart. They competed against one another in their final league encounter at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla. In that game, Delhi will either win or lose, it doesn’t matter but Chennai had a threat.

The playoffs are assured with a win. The playoffs are questionable if they lose. In this circumstance, after losing 3 wickets in front of Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings set a lofty aim of 224 runs

Chennai entered the game with the conviction that there was only one possible outcome: victory. At Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla, Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni made the decision to bat first after winning the toss. Then, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway, two openers, came to bat, and with their bats Chennai advanced toward a significant total.

In 14.3 overs, the two put on a massive partnership of 141 runs. After hitting 79 runs off 50 balls, Ruturaj Gaikwad was out. With three boundaries, he hit 7 sixes. In 52 balls, Devon Conway scored 87 points. He had 11 boundaries and 3 sixes.

Shivam Dube scored 22 runs off 9 balls. On the other side, Ravindra Jadeja stayed unbeaten with 20 runs off 7 deliveries, and Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored 5 runs off 4 balls. At the end of the 20 overs allotted, Chennai scored 223 runs while losing 3 wickets.

For Delhi, Khalil Ahmed, Anrich Nortje, and Chetan Sakaria each claimed one wicket.

In their final game, Delhi needed to score 224 runs, and unfortunately, their innings were finished after 20 overs, losing 9 wickets, for a total of 146 runs. Without David Warner descending to the crease to respond, no Delhi batsman could stand at the crease. Until the 19th over of the innings, the star batsman played by himself. Before going back to the dressing room, he amassed 86 runs in 58 balls while hitting seven fours and five sixes. David Warner has scored the sixth-most runs in the IPL this season. He played 14 games and totaled 516 runs. Six half-centuries were scored by him.

Yash Dul played innings with 13 runs, and Axar Patel recorded the team’s second-highest total of just 15 runs. None of the others were able to enter a residence with two digits. In 7 balls, Prithvi Shaw scored 5 runs. Phillip Salt, the wicketkeeper, only managed 3 runs from 6 balls. Only 7 runs were scored by Aman Hakeem Khan in 9 balls. Rilee Rossouw, Chetan Sakaria, Kuldeep Yadav, and Anrich Nortje were the other four players who were dismissed for 0 runs.

For Chennai, Deepak Chahar took the maximum of three wickets at a cost of 22 runs. Both Mathisha Pathirana and Maheesh Thikshana claimed two wickets.

After this game, Chennai was officially confirmed as the second team in the playoffs, behind Gujarat Titans. Chennai now has 17 points after 14 games. After 14 games, Delhi has accumulated only 10 points.

Kolkata Knight Riders vs Lucknow Super Giants (Match 68) – Highlights

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had no choice but to win to stay in the playoff fight. In such a situation, the Knight Riders left the tournament after losing by 1 run in a disappointing match at their ground. Another great innings by Rinku Singh went in vain. Along with that, Lucknow Super Giant (LSG) confirmed the playoffs by defeating KKR.

Losing the toss at Eden Gardens on Saturday (May 20), LSG lost 8 wickets to score 176 runs in the allotted 20 overs. In response, KKR’s innings stopped after losing 7 wickets after collecting 175 runs.

Many matches in this year’s IPL have had dramatic endings. Many matches have been decided by the last ball. However, such a dramatic exit from the tournament was perhaps not expected by KKR fans.

Chasing down the target of 177 runs in about 8 overs would have kept KKR’s playoff chances alive. When that could not be done, the cricketers of KKR wanted to return home with at least the consolation of victory in the last match.

But even that victory was not possible due to last-minute drama. Knight Riders had to end their campaign in this year’s IPL with a defeat by just 1 run against Super Giants.

With that, Super Giants confirmed the playoffs of IPL 2023 as the third team after Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). However, they had the opportunity to play in the first qualifier from the top two. In that case, LSG should have won the match by 97 runs. But it didn’t happen. Moreover, KKR, Punjab Kings (PBKS), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Delhi Capitals (DC) have been eliminated from the tournament.

KKR needed 21 runs to win in the final over of the game. If they scored 20, the match would have been tied. Vaibhav Arora was on strike and Rinku was on the crease with an unbeaten 51 off 28 balls at the other end of the wicket. Vaibhav gave the strike to Rinku with a single off bowler Yash Thakur’s first ball. The next ball was wide. 2 runs came when the first ball was completed.

Yash managed to bowl dot balls on the next two balls dramatically, which didn’t let Rinku take a single run. The fourth ball went wide again. That meant only 3 runs from three balls. The drama was still there. Rinku hit the fourth ball over the boundary for a six. 12 runs were required off the last 2 balls to get the desired victory for KKR. Rinku has the experience of hitting consecutive sixes. That is why everyone was waiting to see the final drama.

Rinku could not hit a six on the 5th ball. However, he hit a boundary. 1 run difference was created. Rinku hit a six in the last ball. But that 1 run gap remained till the end. KKR had to lose by 1 run. Rinku remained unbeaten with 67 runs off 33 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes.

Chasing the target of 177 runs to win, KKR started pretty well. Jason Roy and Venkatesh Iyer put on a partnership of 61 runs in 5.5 overs. Venkatesh got out after scoring 24 runs off 15 balls. When this pair was broken, the team lost rhythm.

Jason Roy was out for 45 off 28 balls. Skipper Nitish Rana was out for 8 runs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 10 runs off 15 balls. Andre Russell scored 7, Shardul Thakur made 3, and Sunil Narine got out for 1 run. Rinku’s devastating batting gave some win chances to Knight Riders. But it was not possible due to last-minute drama.

Ravi Bishnoi and Yash Thakur took the maximum number of 2 wickets each for LSG. Apart from this, Krunal Pandya and Krishnappa Gowtham took 1 wicket each.

Before going to bat first, LSG was in some danger at the beginning but managed themselves at the end nicely. Opener Karan Sharma was dismissed for 3 runs. Quinton de Kock collected 28 runs off 27 balls. Prerak Mankad got 26 runs off 20 balls. Marcus Stoinis failed to score any runs. Captain Krunal scored 9 runs.

Ayush Badoni scored 25 runs off 21 balls. Nicholas Pooran played a devastating innings. He scored 58 runs off 30 balls with the help of 4 boundaries and 5 sixes for the winning side. Krishnappa remained unbeaten with 11 runs off 4 balls. Sunil Narine, Vaibhav Arora, and Shardul Thakur took the highest number of 2 wickets each for KKR. Besides, Harshit Rana and Varun Chakaravarthy got 1 wicket each.

Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Team Preview

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians nearly lost to Lucknow Super Giants in their most recent match, but they should have more than enough to defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad with both bat and ball.

In recent games, Rohit Sharma’s team has fielded a reliable lineup, and their players have profited from the support that has been given to them. We anticipate that the same starting XI will be chosen for this game because there are no fresh injury concerns in the team.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad has only won two games this season and has been destroyed in each of their previous three games. If they want to win this game, they will need to deliver one of their best performances of the season.

Nitish Kumar Reddy debuted as one of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s four changes before their loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday. We also welcomed Harry Brook and Kartik Tyagi to the club, and we do not anticipate any changes to their starting lineup for this decisive game.
