Gujarat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings Team Preview

Gujarat Titans

Despite playing Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk, Gujarat Titans will be confident of winning and moving on to the final because they have won four out of their past five games handily.

Gujarat Titans continued to field their strongest lineup for the final group stage match and remained unaltered despite having already secured top rank in the standings and playoff eligibility. If there were any adjustments made for this game, it would be a great surprise.

Chennai Super Kings

Despite finishing in second place, Chennai Super Kings trailed Gujarat Titans by just three points. With a home game, MS Dhoni’s team would be confident in their prospects.

MS Dhoni announced the same lineup for their last group stage game against Delhi Capitals after losing to Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous group stage match. We anticipate seeing the same starting lineup in this match after such a solid showing in the last game.

We anticipate that both captains will prefer to field first before this match because the team batting second has won four of the last five games at this location.

On May 23, the skies over Chennai would be primarily clear.

The average first innings score at this stadium for the 2023 IPL is 168, which is the second-lowest mark among all venues. On a pitch that will turn throughout, a par score should be about 185.

Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Gujarat Titans (Match 70) – Highlights

Royal Challengers Bangalore took on Gujarat Titans at home in the 70th match of the IPL on Sunday (May 21). Batting first in that match, Royal Challengers Bangalore set a good target in the 20 overs set by Virat Kohli’s batting. But chasing that target, Gujarat Titans reached the target before the end of the scheduled over. As a result, Royal Challengers Bangalore left the field with a loss of 6 wickets. Along with that, Shubman Gill won the man of the match title with his excellent batting.

As Shubman Gill smacks Wayne Parnell for a free-hit six, he celebrates in regal style. Because the second century in a row with that six and the team also scored a victory on that run. Lots of occasions at once! By that point, Royal Challengers Bangalore was doomed. Gujarat Titans have already advanced, thus Kohli’s team needed to win this game to secure a playoff spot.

However, Bangalore was dismissed after losing 5 wickets. On the other hand, Mumbai Indian’s community was currently celebrating thousands of miles away. Bengaluru’s win would have made them eliminated, but Rohit Sharma’s team now advanced to the playoffs.

After losing the toss, Bangalore made a huge collection of 197 runs for 5 wickets on the back of Virat Kohli’s second consecutive and historic century at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. On that day, no one else could play well for Royal Challengers Bangalore except Virat Kohli. Batting first, their two openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis made a pair of 67 runs in 7.1 overs. But then the incident happened.

Captain Faf du Plessis was caught out after scoring 28 runs off 19 balls with the help of 5 fours. After 1 over, Maxwell scored 11 runs in 5 balls with the help of 1 four and 1 six and left. After that, Mahipal came to the field, but he left the field after scoring 1 run.

Later, Mitchell Bracewell entered the field to accompany Virat. He also departed after scoring 26 runs off 16 balls with the help of 5 fours in the team’s 132-run. Then Dinesh Karthik returned to the dressing room after hitting the golden duck. Despite all this, Virat Kohli was firmly in his place on one side. In the end, he was unbeaten on 101 runs off 61 balls with 13 fours and 1 six.

This is Kohli’s seventh century in IPL. This marks the most hundreds by a batsman in this competition. The Indian batting sensation and Chris Gayle shared the record for the highest century in the previous game (6 hundred). In the following game, he set a record for himself.

Besides, Anuj Rawat was unbeaten on 23 runs off 15 balls. In the end, they set a target of 198 runs with 7 runs extra.

Noor Ahmed took 2 wickets for 39 runs in 4 overs for Gujarat Titans. Besides, Mohammad Shami, Yash Dayal, and Rashid Khan took 1 wicket each.

In reaction to Kohli’s century, Shubman Gill, who was put in to bat with a target of 198 runs, achieved a century. It is also his second consecutive century. After playing a game-winning innings of 104 runs off 52 balls, the opener continued to be unblemished. His stunning innings included 8 sixes and 5 fours.

In that match, Vijay and Gill made a 123-run partnership off 71-ball. Vijay Shankar scored 53 runs off 35 balls. Besides, Wriddhiman Saha scored 12 runs. In the end, Gujarat secured victory with 19 runs extra with 5 balls to spare.

Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (Match 69) – Highlights

Mumbai Indians (MI) had to win to stay upright in the playoff fight. But the target in front of Rohit Sharma’s team was huge. On the one hand, there was the pressure of the run rate and on the other hand, there was the pressure of the must-win game. Both of these made the pressure vast.

But Australian all-rounder Cameron Green handled all the pressure alone brilliantly. The 23-year-old all-rounder’s maiden IPL century made MI win the match with two overs to spare.

After losing the toss and batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) gave Mumbai a huge target of 201 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In response, Rohit Sharma, Cameron Green, and Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliant batting brought up a win by 8 wickets for MI. With this victory, Rohit Sharma’s team kept the hope of the playoffs alive.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) got out of contention with this win of MI. MI now has 16 points from 14 matches. But the fear of MI is still not over. There is only one equation now for Rohit to reach the playoffs, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) must lose in their last match.

The openers of the Sunrisers gradually increased their run rate even though they batted cautiously in the beginning. Two openers Vivrant Sharma and Mayank Agarwal scored 53 runs in the power play. The run rate increased further after the power play. 75 runs were scored from the 7th to the 13th over.

Vivrant picked up his first fifty in IPL. He returned to the dressing room with 69 off 47 balls in the 14th over by Akash Madhwal, but SRH maintained the run rate. Vivrant’s opening partnership with Agarwal put up 140 runs on the board.

In 7-16 overs, SRH collected 115 runs in those middle 10 overs. This is their second-highest score at this stage of the innings in the team’s history in the IPL, the highest for them was 125 against RCB in 2019.

Even in the 17th over, SRH lost by 1 wicket and the score was 174 runs. But they lost 4 wickets to score only 26 runs off the last 21 balls of Madhwal’s great bowling. From projecting a score of 220-225 at one point, Sunrisers struggled to score 200 runs toward the end. But with the efforts of the captain, SRH finally reached the 200 mark.

In the 17th over bowled by Madhwal, Agarwal returned to the pavilion playing 46 balls to get 83 runs (4 fours and 4 sixes) and the Sunrisers fell into disarray. Coming down at number three, Heinrich Klaasen, Glenn Phillips, Aiden Markram, and Harry Brook could not make numerous runs in the middle order. These four together could score only 32 runs off 25 balls. Markram remained unbeaten with 13 runs off 7 balls.

Akash Madhwal took the highest number of four wickets for MI. Besides, Chris Jordan picked up a wicket.

MI didn’t get off to a good start chasing the big target. The team lost the wicket of Ishan Kishan (14) for the team’s 20 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar sent off this left-handed opener. However, Ishan’s departure was later seen as a blessing for MI. Because Green started batting aggressively from the start as he came down to bat after one down.

MI scored 20 off the first 17 balls before he got out. After this aggressive batsman arrived, they scored 40 runs off the remaining 19 balls of the Powerplay. Rohit struggled a bit at first but slowly started adapting to the wicket and picked up fifty. The two put on a 128-run partnership for the 2nd wicket.

MI’s score was 148 in 13.1 overs when Rohit struck 69 off 47 balls and returned to the dressing room after falling victim to Mayank Dagar. The victory was very much in the hands of Rohit & Co. Green picked up the rest of the runs with Suryakumar.

Green scored eight fours and eight sixes in a whirlwind unbeaten innings of 100 off 47 balls. He was also adjudged as the player of the match. On the other hand, Suryakumar was unbeaten with 25 runs off 16 balls.
