The idea behind Major League Cricket is to establish a professional cricket league in the US, like the successful cricket leagues in other countries like the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia. The goal is to attract international players, create competitive teams, and engage American audiences with exciting cricket matches.

MLC 2023

Major League Cricket (MLC) will play its first season of play from July 13 to July 30. The United States will be hosting a brand-new T20 League tournament. Six teams—San Francisco, Unicorn Seattle Orcas, Texas Super Kings, Los Angeles, Knight Riders, MI New York, and Washington Freedom, will battle in 19 games for the chance to take first MLC trophy.

It was shocking to see after the Dallas leg that despite the availability of several good international players in the league, domestic players made up the majority of the top scorers in runs, sixes, and wickets taken, but they also made a significant contribution to their teams’ battle for playoff spots.

League Venues

The first eight games will be played in Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas, while the remaining seven will be played at Church Street Park in Morrisville, near Raleigh and Durham. The squads will also move back to Grand Prairie to share in the playoffs.

Big debut with big money

The two businessmen plan to grow the game in the United States by bringing in multinational faculty and structure colosseums and training complexes in expedients of developing the new generation of U.S. cricketers.

Cricket’s future in the U.S. remains uncertain.

The new league’s sponsors want to change that and are selling MLC to every American who enjoys bat-and-ball sports. A lot of the tickets have been given away as gifts to the families of the cricket players and organizers to fill in the colosseum for the opening night.
