Players to Watch Out for in Australia vs. Sri Lanka ICC Cricket World Cup 14th Match

The ICC Cricket World Cup’s 14th match will be a do-or-die match for both Australia and Sri Lanka. Both of the team has lost their first two matches so this match will be a crucial factor for both of them. As we gear up for the die-hard match, let’s take a closer look at some key players who are expected to make a significant impact on the game.

Before diving into the players to watch, let’s quickly glance at the recent head-to-head encounters between these two teams. In their last five matches, the results have been quite evenly balanced:

In the cricket matches played in June 2022, the Australian team secured a victory by four wickets with 63 balls to spare against Sri Lanka on the 24th of June. However, earlier in the month, on the 21st of June, Sri Lanka managed to win a closely contested match, triumphing by just four runs. In another encounter on the 19th of June, Sri Lanka claimed a victory by six wickets with nine balls remaining. In a match affected by the Duckworth-Lewis (D/L) method on the 16th of June, Sri Lanka won by 26 runs. Conversely, on the 14th of June, Australia pulled off a win by two wickets with nine balls to spare, also employing the D/L method.

ENG vs AFG Analysis

At Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, the 13th game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will feature England vs. Afghanistan.

In their last match at Dharamsala, the defending champions defeated Bangladesh, earning their first victory in the competition. After suffering a humiliating loss in the first game, England made a significant comeback.

Afghanistan, on the other side, has thus far dropped two straight games. Their most recent game was against India at the same Delhi location, and the hosts triumphed by 8 wickets after chasing down a 273-run mark.

Only twice in their history have the two teams faced off, at the World Cups in 2019 and 2015. England has Bairstow and Root, who were among the leading run scorers against Afghanistan in 2019. Eoin Morgan is not there this time.

ENG vs AFG Team Preview & Squads

England

In the following game, Reece Topley replaced Moeen Ali and bowled 4 for 43 runs as England bowled out Bangladesh for 227 runs. Mark Wood again showed excellent economy, going 1 for 29 from 10 Overs.

Other important bowlers in this lineup to keep an eye on include Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid.

Poor shot choices versus New Zealand were to blame for the frequent wickets and paucity of partnerships. They will have felt more confident when Dawid Malan scored a massive hundred and Bairstow and Root each scored fifty in the top 3. This batting lineup has adequate depth and some strong finishers in the lower middle order.

Afghanistan

Although Hashmatullah Shahidi is a strong batter, his leadership skills will be put to the test throughout this competition. He is in charge of a bowling attack that is lacking in experience. Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Rashid Khan are still present, but the pace of assault is brand-new.

Shahidi was Afghanistan’s top run scorer in their most recent game against England, with 76 runs at the number 4 position. He will be a crucial middle-order batsman after the last game in Delhi, where he hit 80 runs against India.

Another seasoned batter in this lineup, Rahmat Shah, participated in the 2019 World Cup run. Despite not looking fantastic thus far, he is an important player at number 3. Following the captain in the batting order are Najibullah Zadran and Mohammad Nabi at positions 5 and 6, respectively.

ICC Cricket World Cup Prediction 13th ODI England vs Afghanistan – Will Afghanistan be able to get their first victory Oct 15 Arun Jaitley Stadium

At this field, we believe that batting first and putting runs on the board will be wise moves.

High temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius and partly cloudy weather are forecasted.

Although historically it has not been a strong batting surface, so far in this tournament it has looked like a belter. The ball is going onto the bat wonderfully, so both innings should have plenty of runs.

Cricket Highlights, 13 October: ICC Cricket World Cup (11th Match) – New Zealand vs Bangladesh – Bangladesh suffered a severe defeat at the hands of New Zealand.

New Zealand vs Bangladesh (11th Match) – Highlights

Experience, as the phrase goes, cannot be purchased on the open market. Today’s Bangladeshi batting innings clearly demonstrated it. Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Mahmudullah, three elders, led Bangladesh to a respectable total over the Kiwis.

It is also a huge relief that they were able to complete the entire 50 overs without getting all out given their recent performances. 9 wickets were taken for 245 runs by Bangladesh. In other words, for New Zealand to win, they must score 246.

Bangladesh was given the chance to bat first after New Zealand won the toss in Chennai. As always, shocked at the beginning. Trent Boult’s excellent delivery allowed Liton to give a catch at the fine leg. He hit a Golden Duck (1 ball 0) after scoring a fifty in the last game and went back to the dressing room.

On the huge stage, young Tanzid Hasan Tamim likewise fell short of himself. After getting caught out by Lockie Ferguson, Tamim returned with a score of 16 from 17 balls and 4 boundaries. Mahedi Hasan Miraz dropped to position three and established the tempo for many runs. But in his own 30 runs, he too made a mistake. In 46 balls, he hit 4 boundaries.

Nazmul Hossain Shanto was then out by an easy delivery after making 7 off 8 balls. Even Glenn Phillips might not have anticipated getting a wicket.

13 overs and 4 wickets for 56 runs. That at-bat calamity, Bangladesh in its previous attire. In the wake of the team’s failure, two seasoned batsmen, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim, seized the initiative.

Bangladesh overcame the initial setback in the Mushfiq- Shakib pair. However, their 96-run partnership was finally broken by Lockie Ferguson in the fifth wicket by getting out Shakib. Shakib’s innings of 40 runs off 51 balls had 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Mushfiqur was playing well. He picked up the 48th half-century of his ODI career. There was hope for a century. But Mushfiq could not. The Tiger wicketkeeper bowled by Matt Henry. His innings of 66 off 75 balls was studded with 6 fours and 2 sixes.

After that, Towhid Hridoy also returned to the dressing room and he scored 13 runs off 25 balls. After rising from 152 for 4 wickets to 180, Bangladesh lost 7 wickets and found itself once more under duress. Mahmudullah Riyad and Taskin Ahmed added a valuable 34 runs off 43 balls in the eighth wicket. This pair broke when Taskin was dismissed for 17 off 19 balls with 2 sixes. However, the experienced Mahmudullah has single-handedly pulled the team for the rest of the time. He was still undefeated after 41 runs off 49 balls and two four-sixes.

New Zealand’s Lockie Ferguson took 3 wickets and Trent Boult and Matt Henry took 2 wickets each.

The 246-run aim set for New Zealand wasn’t overly lofty. Early on, Tiger bowlers offered some promise. However, upon his recovery from injuries, Kane Williamson and astounding Daryl Mitchell destroyed all hopes. They won by 8 wickets and this is the third straight win for the Kiwis.

Williamson, however, went to the dressing room after scoring 78 runs. Still, Bangladesh could not take any more wickets. Daryl Mitchell was unbeaten on 89 off 67 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes to leave the field as the winner.

However, Mustafizur Rahman delivered a storm in the third over of the New Zealand innings. Rachin Rabindra (9 off 13) was caught by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim off a great delivery by the cutter master. The Kiwis lost their first wicket for 12 runs.

But for the second wicket, Devon Conway and Kane Williamson put on a partnership of 80 runs. Finally, Shakib Al Hasan broke this pair.

Conway was trapped in LBW by the Tiger skipper. The Kiwi opener returned to the dressing room for 45 runs. But Bangladesh had to gain momentum to stop Williamson. After he got up, Daryl Mitchell left the field by winning the game. Besides, 16 runs were scored by Glenn Phillips.

New Zealand vs Bangladesh Scoreboard

New Zealand 248/2 (42.5)
