ENG vs SA Match Analysis

Fans of the World Cup are having a blast. Afghanistan defeated England first, and subsequently, South Africa was defeated by the Netherlands. South Africa and England will square off in the ICC Cricket World Cup after both suffering historic defeats. The 20th ODI will begin at 2 PM on October 21 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Both sides will have the chance to increase their chances of finishing in the top four.

Three wickets were taken for 42 by Adil Rashid. Only Harry Brook (66), a half-Centurian, was on the English team. Although England lost the game by a score of 69 runs, his inning couldn’t save them.

South Africa suffered the second shock just one day after the first one. The Netherlands gave the in-form South Africa squad a goal of 246 runs in a game that was hampered by weather. When the Dutch attacked, David Miller (43) showed some fortitude. However, South Africa ultimately lost by 38 runs.

ENG vs SA Team Preview & Squads

England

The World Cup’s opening round had England as the favorite. Their campaign, however, has been considerably sidetracked with two losses in three games. At both the bowling end and the batting end, they are losing the war. They managed to score 104 runs in 25 overs against Afghanistan despite losing 8 wickets to spinners. England will start its inning with Bairstow and Malan. 87 runs have been scored in 3 games by Bairstow, who is experiencing a bad run.

In the last three games, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, and Chris Woakes have amassed 99 runs combined. The trio had also each claimed two wickets with the ball. Moeen Ali might potentially join the England team.

English bowlers Reece Topley and Adil Rashid will be in charge of the attack. Topley has taken the most wickets for England with 5 at an average of 19. In the previous game, Rashid picked up three wickets, bringing his total to four. None of the other bowlers have performed well for England except for these two.

England Squads

Jos Buttler (c & wk), Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Mark Wood, Sam Curran, Ben Stokes, Joe Root, Adil Rashid, Reece Topley, Harry Brook, and Moeen Ali.

South Africa

Following the Netherlands loss, Temba Bavuma must be reflecting on himself. 59 runs, or an average of 19.66, have been scored by the starter in the first three games. Markram and van der Dussen are being put under pressure as a result of his inefficiency. In a matchup with England, he can use the captain’s knock. Bavuma has played in the last 20 games and has scored 4 hundred and 2 half-centuries. The batter to keep an eye on will be Quinton de Kock. With two hundred in the first two games, the left-handed batter has 229 runs in three games.

South Africa has so far recorded four centuries. One of them belongs to Van der Dussen. He and Markram will be in charge now that Bavuma is no longer in the form. This World Cup, Markram has 163 runs scored. But his strike rate is what really impresses him. At a strike rate of 161.38, the middle-order batter has scored.

The early triumph against the Netherlands was lost by the South African bowlers. In 27 overs, the Dutch were 112 for 6. The following 16 runs totaled 123 for them. Along with Ngidi, the bowling attack will be led by Rabada and Jansen. Given the Wankhede pitch, South Africa ought to incorporate Shamsi into the lineup. He and Maharaj can be devastating against England, who lost the previous encounter against the spinners.

NED vs SL Match Analysis

Sri Lanka has yet to begin competition in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup. They are now wallowing at the bottom of the standings with zero points and a net run rate of -1.532 after losing each of their three games so far. The Lankan Lions must swiftly make a turnaround, otherwise, they risk losing this World Cup.  However, the Netherlands can’t be taken lightly because they just pulled off the biggest win by upsetting South Africa in their previous game.

The upcoming match for Sri Lanka is against the Netherlands in Lucknow on October 21.

Nobody really anticipated that the Netherlands would advance far in this World Cup. However, thanks to a strong performance in the qualifiers, they have advanced to the tournament. These guys are not to be taken lightly, and they demonstrated this against South Africa the other day. They also not only defeated the Proteas but also completely outplayed them.

Sri Lanka is having a terrible World Cup of ODI. They haven’t won a game yet, so they must immediately discover solutions to their problems. The spectacular batting failures that Sri Lanka has experienced are one issue that needs to be addressed initially.

NED vs SL Team Preview & Squads

Netherlands

When the club was reeling at 112-6 at one stage in the last game, skipper Scott Edwards led the way with a superb unbeaten knock of 78 from 69 balls. Edwards has been in excellent form lately, scoring 339 runs at an average of 56.5 and a strike rate of 110 in the last 10 games.

Bas de Leede will also be held to a high standard by the squad. In his last nine games, he has scored 368 runs and claimed 21 wickets. He leads the team in World Cup wickets taken as well.

The other two bowlers to watch out for are Logan van Beek and Roelof van der Merwe, who have each taken four wickets in this event. Merwe appeared to have rediscovered his groove and played superbly against South Africa. He ought to be able to trouble them on this surface, despite the fact that Sri Lanka’s batting is significantly better against spin.

With 207 runs in 3 matches at an average of 69 and a strike rate of 157, he is now among the tournament’s leading scorers. Also beware of Sadeera Samarawickrama, who has scored 139 runs in three games in this competition. He has been moving smoothly. The last time Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera played here, in the match against Australia, they both performed well. Nissanka scored 61 runs off 67 balls, and Perera scored 78 runs off 82 balls.

Sri Lanka’s bowling performance in the competition has been below average. Their outstanding performer has been left-arm fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka, who has seven wickets from three games at an average of 26.28.  Although Maheesh Theekshana and Dunith Wellalage haven’t looked their best thus far, this match ought to help them find their groove again.

Batting first and attempting to accumulate a huge total makes more sense. Exactly this occurred during last week’s match between South Africa and Australia at this location.

In Lucknow, it will be warm and muggy.

As the game progresses, the surface at the Ekana Cricket Stadium starts to slow down a little.
