How New Zealand Stunned India in ICC ODI World Cup 2019 Semi-final

How New Zealand Stunned India in ICC ODI World Cup 2019 Semi-final

The semi-final clash between New Zealand and India in the ICC ODI World Cup 2019 was a perfect thriller to watch. That match was played on the 2nd day because of the rain wanted to play spoilsport. It was a match to be remembered and India’s captain cools last World Cup match. New Zealand with their talented squad secured the final spot by ending the journey of Captain Cool’s squad.

New Zealand’s innings began under overcast skies and on a pitch with unpredictable bounce and pace. Facing the world-class Indian bowling attack, they struggled to score freely. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah bowled successive maidens, and New Zealand’s run rate dwindled. However, they focused on preserving wickets, and partnerships between Kane Williamson and Henry Nicholls, and later with Ross Taylor, allowed them to set a fighting total of 239.

Chasing 240 for victory, India found themselves in a precarious situation early in their innings, losing three wickets for just five runs. As the situation seemed dire, Ravindra Jadeja emerged as the hero with an extraordinary all-round performance. Partnered with MS Dhoni, India clawed their way back into the contest. Jadeja’s impressive innings of 77 off 59 balls kept India’s hopes alive, but it wasn’t meant to be.

Jadeja finally departed, caught off a slower ball from Trent Boult, with India needing 37 runs from the last 18 balls. Dhoni, who had been nudging the ball around the field, unleashed a crucial six to bring the equation down to 25 off 11 balls. However, in a desperate attempt to retain the strike, he ran for a second run, only to be inches short due to a stunning direct hit from Martin Guptill. This moment marked a turning point in the match, allowing New Zealand to breathe and dream of the final at Lord’s.

Throughout the match, both teams showcased incredible bowling and fielding. New Zealand’s spinners, particularly Mitchell Santner, played a crucial role in building pressure and taking wickets. Santner’s variations in pace and length troubled the Indian batsmen, and his early wickets set the tone for New Zealand’s defense.

On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja was a standout for India with his dynamic all-round performance. He not only contributed with the ball but also electrified the fielding with a direct hit run-out and a remarkable catch. His batting prowess was on full display as he fought valiantly to keep India’s hopes alive.

The semi-final between New Zealand and India in the ICC ODI World Cup 2019 will be remembered for its intensity and drama. New Zealand’s determination to defend a modest total on a challenging pitch and India’s valiant fightback, led by Jadeja and Dhoni, made this match a spectacle for cricket fans worldwide. Although India fell short, their performance showcased why they are considered one of the world’s top ODI teams.

As New Zealand secured their place in the final, the cricketing world looked forward to the ultimate showdown at Lord’s on July 14. This match served as a testament to the unpredictability and excitement that the ODI format can offer, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the next thrilling encounter in the world of cricket.

Cricket Highlights, 20 October ICC Cricket World Cup (18th Match) – Australia vs Pakistan – There is nothing new to say about Pakistan's defeat in a match after an astounding show.

Australia vs Pakistan (18th Match) – Highlights

Abdullah Shafiq and Imam-ul-Haq made a strong first impression, inspiring Pakistan to write a new World Cup history in the span of 10 days. However, Babar Azam did not set a record for the bowling skills of Marcus Stoinis and Adam Zampa. Pakistan departed the field with a loss of 62 runs despite having 27 balls remaining in their possession.

Australia batted first on Friday (October 20) in the 18th World Cup game played in Bengaluru. In response, after losing all of their wickets in 45.3 overs, Zampa-Stoinis bowled Pakistan for 305 runs.

Pakistan’s pursuit of Sri Lanka‘s 345 runs at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on October 10 set a new World Cup record. Which broke the record of Ireland, who chased the 328 runs scored by England in the 2011 World Cup. Pakistan had the chance to further their record during the same World Cup. But that didn’t happen.

That message was conveyed in the run chase by the two openers, Abdullah Shafique and Imam ul Haque. They scored 134 runs at a 6.38-run rate in 21 overs. The pair reached the mark of fifty together. Marcus Stoinis, however, forbade this pair from going over 150. When Stoinis entered the attack in the 22nd over, he dismissed Shafique with the first ball. After hitting 64 runs in 61 balls with seven fours and two sixes, he came back with a catch in Maxwell’s hands. The 24th over saw Stoinis criticize Imam-ul-Haq once more. After hitting 10 fours and scoring 70 runs off 71 balls, he came back and was caught out by Mitchell Starc.

When it came to the third wicket, Mohammad Rizwan and the captain Babar Azam maintained the tempo. However, this couple was unable to experience the growth. Babar struck Zampa at ridiculous mid-on in the 27th over of the inning before being caught by the flying Pat Cummins. He was out after 18 runs off 14 balls. Rizwan kept one end, though. Together with Saud Shakeel, he added 57 runs to the fourth-wicket total. Rizwan gave hope to the team with Iftikhar Ahmed when Shakil scored 30 runs off 31 balls.

Pakistan was put under pressure after Iftikhar was lbw after 26 runs off 20 balls. Pakistan was eliminated in the 41st over after Rizwan got caught leg-before by an Aussie leg spinner. The wicket-keeper batsman, however, appealed the umpire’s dismissal ruling. It didn’t, though. At 46 runs off 40 balls with 5 fours, his inning came to an end. In the following 28 balls, Pakistan lost its final 4 wickets and was out for 305 runs.

Zampa took 4 wickets for 53 runs and Stoinis took 2 wickets for 40 runs. Pat Cummins took 2 wickets and Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood took 1 wicket each.

Before this, Australia got big capital in the skill of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh. They made 367 runs for the loss off 9 wickets. David Warner played a devastating innings of 163 runs off 124 balls with 14 fours and 9 sixes before falling victim to Haris Rauf. Marsh left the field after scoring 121 runs off 108 balls with 10 fours and 9 sixes. Besides, No one played a noteworthy innings.

Shaheen Afridi was the greatest Pakistani bowler. In 10 overs, he grabbed 5 wickets for 54 runs. Haris Rauf took 3 wickets in the end despite he wasn’t economical. Usama Mir, who came in as Shadab’s replacement, took 1 wicket.

Australia finished fourth in the World Cup points standings with 4 points from 4 games, passing Pakistan. With an equal number of points in equal matches, Pakistan have dropped to five as they are behind in net run rate. New Zealand tops with 8 points from 4 consecutive wins, India with two.

IND vs NZ Match Analysis

The titanic battle is about to begin. New Zealand and India, the top two teams in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, will face off in a tantalizing match on Super Sunday. Having played four games and won four of them, India and New Zealand are now the only unbeaten teams in the competition. With a net run rate of 1.923, the Kiwis are in first place, closely followed by India, which also has a remarkable NRR of 1.659. Which of these two will snap their winning streak this Sunday in Dharamsala? India and New Zealand have alternated victories in World Cups, but India will benefit from playing at home. We are all prepared for a riveting confrontation.

The 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup is witnessing the continued dominance of India. On Wednesday, October 19, they easily defeated Bangladesh in Pune, cementing their position as the No. 2 team in the points standings. India easily won after holding Bangladesh to a meager total of 256/8 because of outstanding performances from their top-order lineup.

This World Cup has seen New Zealand play incredibly expertly, outplaying every opponent with complete authority. They beat Afghanistan by 149 runs in their previous encounter at Chennai, scoring 288-6 in total.

IND vs NZ Team Preview & Squads

India

Now with 265 runs in 4 innings at an average of 66.25, Rohit is the leading scorer in this World Cup. Kohli, who has 259 runs from 4 innings at 129.50, is just behind him. Furthermore, Shubman Gill, who scored a double hundred against New Zealand in an ODI earlier this year, must be avoided. Not to be overlooked, KL Rahul ranks fifth for India.

The Indian bowling staff appears to be complete. Jasprit Bumrah has been outstanding so far in the competition, taking 10 wickets in 4 innings at an extremely low average of 13.40. Despite his history of run leaks, we believe Mohammed Siraj will be fairly challenging on this surface. Kuldeep, the spin twins from India will also need to be avoided by the Kiwis.

India Squads

Rohit Sharma (c), KL Rahul (wk), Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammad Shami/Shardul Thakur, Suryakumar Yadav /Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj

New Zealand

The unassuming Devon Conway capably leads the Kiwis’ excellent top and middle order. With 249 runs in 4 innings at an average of 83, the left-handed opener is leading the squad in batting this World Cup.

Rachin Ravindra, a young all-around spin bowler (214 runs in 4 innings at 71.66), has also demonstrated a lot of promise while batting third. Tom Latham and Glenn Phillips both struck outstanding fifties in New Zealand’s most recent game, which will also make them happy.

The powerful Indian batting lineup will face a formidable challenge from the Kiwi fast bowlers on this Dharamsala track. Trent Boult, Matt Henry, and Lockie Ferguson will all have a lot of success with this pitch and will undoubtedly cause difficulties for the Indian batsmen. Mitchell Santner, a left-arm spinner, is another option. He is the tournament’s top Wicket-taker with 11 victories.

ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Match Prediction 2023 | Match 21 | India vs New Zealand – It would be a great matchup between table toppers. | October 22, 2023 Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium

At the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, three World Cup matches have been played; two of them were won by the team batting first and one by the team chasing. This implies that the side that chooses to bat first in this situation may be doing so.

It will be cold and partly cloudy in Dharamsala. In some areas, a thunderstorm is expected in the afternoon.

The Dharamsala deck has a sports feel about it. For the quicks, it has lots of bounce and seam movement, especially in low light.
