The ODI World Cup has seen records tumbling almost every match. Markram recorded the fastest ton in the first week of this tournament and that record lasted for days. Maxwell fired up against the Netherlands hit the quickest tons and wrote his name in history. Today we are going to discuss the top five fastest tons of ODI World and how they achieve this mesmerising feat.

Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell’s blazing century came in a match that left fans spellbound. He reached his hundred in just 40 balls, breaking the previous record held by South Africa’s Aiden Markram, who had achieved his century in 49 balls in the same tournament. Maxwell’s scintillating performance not only overtook Markram but also shattered a decade-old record. This incredible display of power hitting showcased Maxwell’s exceptional ability to decimate any bowling attack.

Prior to Maxwell’s remarkable feat, Aiden Markram was the man of the hour, having set a new World Cup record by scoring the second-fastest century. Markram’s blistering innings came in South Africa’s opening match of the 2023 World Cup against Sri Lanka. He reached his hundred in just 49 balls, eventually accumulating 106 runs off 56 balls. Markram’s performance was instrumental in setting a daunting target of 400+ for the 1996 World Cup-winning Sri Lankan team. While Maxwell’s record overshadowed Markram’s achievement, it was a clear indication of the firepower this South African cricketer possesses.

Kevin O’Brien

In the annals of World Cup history, Kevin O’Brien’s century holds a special place. The Irish cricketer’s astonishing century in the 2011 World Cup remains etched in the minds of cricket fans. Batting at number six, O’Brien achieved a century in just 50 balls while chasing England’s colossal target of 328. His heroic innings, which ended with a total of 113 runs, led Ireland to a shocking victory over their rivals, England. This historic win with just five balls and three wickets to spare not only put O’Brien in the spotlight but also established Ireland as a force to be reckoned with in the cricketing world.

While Glenn Maxwell’s century is the fastest in World Cup history, it’s essential to acknowledge the contribution of other dynamic cricketers. One such player is AB de Villiers, known for his unorthodox strikes and explosive batting. In the 2015 World Cup, de Villiers scored the fifth-fastest century in the tournament’s history, taking just 52 balls to reach his hundred against the West Indies. His unbeaten total of 162 in that match showcased his remarkable ability to dominate any bowling attack.

Pakistan vs South Africa (Match 26) – Highlights

The excitement was breathtaking at the Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Because Pakistan needed one wicket, while South Africa needed 11 runs to get a victory. Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi were on the wicket. In the end, the Proteas moved slowly to pick up 11 runs. South Africa left the field with a one-wicket win against Pakistan.

As a result of this victory, the Proteas have ascended to the top of the points table. After 6 matches, 10 points are next to their name. Host India also has 10 points, but they played 5 matches. However, they are behind South Africa in net run rate. The opposite is the case with Babar Azam’s teams. They have 4 points after playing 6 matches. The loss against the Proteas has taken them closer to being knocked out of the tournament.

Chasing a challenging target of 271 runs, South Africa picked up 11 runs in the first over. Quinton de Kock single-handedly scored 19 runs in the second over bowled by Shaheen Afridi. He scored 24 runs off 14 balls and was dismissed for the team’s 34 runs. Temba Bavuma scored 28 runs and departed after raising a catch off Mohammad Wasim Jr.

Rassie van der Dussen scored 21 runs. The in-form Heinrich Klaasen was dismissed for just 12 runs. Then Aiden Markram kept the run wheel going with David Miller. Although Miller departed after playing an innings of 29 runs, Markram continued to guide the team in the right direction. Marco Jansen scored 20 runs.

Markram was out on the brink of a century. He was dismissed by Usama Mir after scoring 91 runs off 93 balls. His innings had 7 fours and 3 sixes. However, when Gerald Coetzee (10) returned to the dressing room, the match was completely alive. Shaheen’s ball found the edge of his bat and went to Mohammad Rizwan. South African score then was standing on 250 runs.

Lungi Ngidi scored 4 important runs for the team. Haris Rauf dismissed him with a great delivery, and Ngidi was caught by Haris himself. The Proteas then came under more pressure. But Maharaj and Shamsi ensured the team’s victory by playing coolly on the last wicket. Maharaj scored 7 and Shamsi put up 4 runs. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi took the highest number of 3 wickets and Mohammad Wasim, Haris Rauf, and Usama Mir took 2 wickets each.

Earlier in the team performance Pakistan scored 270 runs in 46.4 overs losing all the wickets. Saud Shakeel got 52, Babar scored 50, Shadab Khan made 43, Rizwan’s collection was 31, Mohammad Nawaz and Iftikhar Ahmed scored 24 and 21 runs respectively for the Men in Green. Spinner Shamsi took the maximum number of 4 wickets for the Proteas. Apart from this, Marco Jansen scalped 3 wickets, Gerald Coetzee 2 wickets and Lungi Ngidi took 1 wicket for the victorious side.

Pakistan’s two openers departed within 38 runs of the team. Abdullah Shafique scored 9 runs and Imam-ul-Haq scored 12 runs. Babar and Rizwan held on to the pressure. Rizwan became aggressive by playing some amazing shots. De Kock caught him after as he nicked the bat on Coetzee’s bouncer. When Rizwan departed, Babar concentrated on building up an innings with Iftikhar.

Iftikhar was caught by Klaasen near the boundary while trying to hit a six in the team’s 129-run lead. After a while, Babar also departed. He hit 4 fours and a six off 65 balls. After losing 5 wickets, Pakistan scored 84 runs with the bat of Shadab and Shakeel. Shadab, who was playing aggressively, got out due to the wrong shot selection. He hit 3 fours and 2 sixes facing 36 balls.

However, Shakeel picked up a half-century. After he got out, the next batters managed to put 11 more runs on the scoreboard. In the end, Pakistan’s innings stopped at 270 runs.

NED vs BAN Match Analysis

The nations are competing in this year’s ICC Men’s ODI World Cup to be crowned the global champions. After determining their strengths, teams will evaluate their strategy to advance to the semi-finals by the halfway point of the competition.

Bangladesh has won just one of the five World Cup games they have played, so far. Given that the World Cup was held on the subcontinent, the Bangla Tigers were expected to fare far better than they did.

Given the quantity of competitive cricket they play, the Netherlands would have always anticipated doing poorly at the World Cup, but their recent performances have definitely impressed many.

NED vs BAN Team Preview & Squads

Netherlands

We anticipate some changes ahead of this match, with some fatigued and exhausted bodies in the bowling attack, after they have played with the same squad for their last few games, including the victory over South Africa. Van Meekeren is expected to withdraw, and Ryan Klein will return.

After losing the toss, the Netherlands was placed first in the field. The Dutch were hammered for 399 runs in 50 overs, and they had no idea what had hit them. The bowlers were batted out of the game in the first innings itself because they were unable to withstand the onslaught. Continuing his remarkable form, Logan van Beek claimed 4 wickets at a cost of 74 runs.

In order to approach the aim, the batting team had to exert maximum effort. Unfortunately, they were bowled out for just ninety runs, dropping the game by a massive thirty-eight runs. The batting unit disintegrated and will be hoping for a far better showing in their subsequent encounter.

Netherlands Squads

Scott Edwards (c) (wk), Colin Ackermann, Sybrand Engelbrecht, Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren, Vikramjit Singh, Teja Nidamaniri Bas de Leede, Roelof van der Merwe, Max O’Dowd, and Logan van Beek.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh made a single alteration prior to their Tuesday matchup against South Africa: Towhid Hridoy was left from the squad, and captain Shakib Al Hasan returned to the team following his full recovery from injury. This game is not anticipated to alter in any way.

The Batsmen took the Bangladeshi bowlers to the cleaners after they lost the toss and were fielded by the form South Africa. They took just 5 wickets in their 50 overs while giving up an enormous 382 runs. Since they had no response to that batting display, all of the bowlers were absolutely destroyed.

Bangladesh was unable to perform a miracle in order to reach the objective of 383 runs. All that they could muster was 233 runs in 46.1 overs, bowled out. Mahmudullah, though, gave the tigers cause for celebration with an incredible 111 off 111 balls.

NED vs BAN outfield report

ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Match Prediction 2023 | Match 28 | Netherlands vs Bangladesh – Can Bangladesh pick up their second win in the tournament? | Oct 28 Eden Gardens

At this location, the 2023 Cricket World Cup will have its inaugural match. Both captains will opt to bat first if they win the toss, even though India won the most recent One-Day International by batting second. This is because the side that batted first won the previous five events in this format.

On match day, the temperature will be high and muggy with no risk of rain. The temperature range for both the maximum and minimum will be 33°C to 23°C.

This Eden Gardens pitch should produce a lot of spin, as we should expect. Par will be between 320 and 330, with a steady bounce all through the game.

IND vs ENG Match Analysis

In 2023, India hopes to maintain its domination at the ICC Cricket World Cup. In the 29th game, they play England, and a victory would guarantee them a spot in the semifinals. They defeated New Zealand on their way here, and their main players are doing well. After losing to Sri Lanka in the most recent match, England’s path to the semifinals appears arduous. To maintain their aspirations, they need to win this game by a significant margin.

With five straight victories, the Indians are riding high and will try to secure a spot in the following round. It would be intriguing to watch if England, the reigning champs, can halt the Indian force.

England’s claim to be the greatest white-ball team hasn’t held up. They rank ninth on the points standings and have only triumphed once in their last five games. They need to play their best game to win here because they have a bad record against India when playing on Indian soil.

IND vs ENG Team Preview & Squads

India

Since he has been playing so well, Rohit Sharma will try to get off to a strong start against Shubman Gill. In the middle order, Virat Kohli has looked unwaveringly reliable. He plans to form alliances with KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. Along with Mohammad Shami, Suryakumar Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja bring firepower to this batting lineup. They will want to take on the England bowlers in the final overs.

Since the England top order has struggled in most games, the bowling attack has performed well in the competition. As such, the team will look to Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj to take early wickets. Considering that he took five wickets in the last game, Mohammad Shami will feel secure. The combination of Kuldeep Yadav and Jadeja strengthens this attack.
