Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 63 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday (March 26). Chasing the big target of 207 runs given by CSK, GT’s innings stopped at 143 runs after losing 8 wickets at the end of the stipulated 20 overs. Mustafiz grabbed 2 wickets with 30 runs after bowling 4 overs.
The Titans didn’t get off to a good start chasing the huge target given by the Super Kings. Shubman Gill’s team lost 2 wickets in the powerplay. Two openers Shubman and Wriddhiman Saha were sent back to the dressing room by pacer Deepak Chahar.
Mustafiz came bowling for the first time in the fifth over in the previous match. But against the Titans, he was brought in in the second over. The star pacer of Bangladesh did not make a good start yesterday despite showing some brilliance in his first over the other day. He didn’t find any wickets conceding 23 runs in the first two overs.
Mustafiz did not start well but the rest showed great resistance. David Miller and Sai Sudharsan tried to form a big partnership in the fourth wicket, but Indian pacer Tushar Deshpande did not let it happen. After returning to Miller (21), he quickly returned to Azmatullah Omarzai (11).
Matheesha Pathirana was injured in the Bangladesh series and returned to competitive cricket with this match. But this pacer’s comeback has been good. He took the important wicket of Sudharsan with 29 runs in 4 overs. The maximum 37 runs for GT came from Sudharsan’s bat. Wriddhiman scored 21 runs. But no one else could score more than 20 runs.

Earlier, CSK got a big collection of 206 runs with the great batting of Rachin Ravindra and Shivam Dube. Rachin got out with regret, but Shivam scored fifty.
After losing the toss and batting, Kiwi all-rounder Rachin was the attacker from the start. Within 5 overs, the team reached 58 runs. But unfortunately, he had to leave the field due to being stumped by Rashid’s ball in the sixth over. His innings ended at 46 off 20 balls, with 6 fours and 3 sixes. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 46 off 36 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes, h got caught behind by Spencer Johnson.
Shivam blasted four sixes in the fourth wicket, with Daryl Mitchell aside. He got out with 51 runs off 23 balls with the help of 5 sixes and 2 fours, surpassing Rashid, and Mohit Sharma. Mitchell’s innings ended at 24 runs off 20 balls. In the end, Sameer Rizvi scored 14 off 6 balls and Ravindra Jadeja scored 7 runs off 3 balls to cross the team’s collection of 200.
Rashid Khan was GT’s most expensive bowler. He bowled 4 overs and took 2 wickets but gave 49 runs. Sai Kishore, Spencer Johnson, and Mohit Sharma took one wicket each.
