Who Will Be the Final 3 in The Men’s Hundred 2024 Knockout Stage

As the Men’s Hundred 2024 approaches its final stages, the race for the top three spots is intensifying. With 23 out of 32 matches completed, only three teams will move on to the knockout stage in this unique format. The team that tops the points table will secure a direct berth in the final, while the second and third-placed teams will battle it out in the Eliminator on August 17 at The Oval.

Here’s an analysis of the potential final three teams likely to make it to the knockout stage of Men’s Hundred 2024.

Oval Invincibles

Who Will Be the Final 3 in The Men’s Hundred 2024 Knockout Stage Oval Invincibles

The Oval Invincibles have lived up to their name this season, dominating the league with five wins out of six matches. Their only hiccup came against the Northern Superchargers, where they suffered a 19-run defeat. However, they bounced back quickly with victories over formidable opponents like Southern Brave, Manchester Originals, Welsh Fire, London Spirit, and Birmingham Phoenix.

Sam Curran has been the driving force behind the Invincibles’ outstanding performance this season. With 176 runs at a remarkable average of 44 and 13 wickets in just six innings, Curran stands as the tournament’s top wicket-taker and the third-highest run-scorer. His all-round brilliance has been pivotal in establishing the Invincibles as strong contenders for direct qualification to the final. If Curran and his teammates maintain their winning momentum, the Oval Invincibles are well on their way to lifting the trophy this season.

Southern Brave

Who Will Be the Final 3 in The Men’s Hundred 2024 Knockout Stage Southern Brave

Southern Brave have also had a solid run in the Men’s Hundred 2024, sitting comfortably in second place with four wins from six matches. Their two losses came at the hands of the top-ranked Oval Invincibles and third-placed Northern Superchargers, which shows that Brave have only been bested by the best.

Looking ahead, Brave’s remaining fixtures are against Trent Rockets and Welsh Fire. Given their previous dominant victory over Fire, another win seems likely, which should secure their spot in the knockout stage. With a well-balanced squad and key players peaking at the right time, Southern Brave are strong contenders to advance and possibly challenge for the title.

Northern Superchargers

Who Will Be the Final 3 in The Men’s Hundred 2024 Knockout Stage Northern Superchargers

The Northern Superchargers have been the only team to defeat both Oval Invincibles and Southern Brave, earning them the nickname “giant slayers” of this season. Currently third in the points table with seven points from six matches, the Superchargers have had a mixed bag of results, including unexpected losses to Birmingham Phoenix and Trent Rockets, along with a no-result against Welsh Fire.

However, with upcoming matches against the bottom two teams, London Spirit and Manchester Originals, the Superchargers are in a prime position to capitalize and secure their place in the Eliminator. All eyes will be on Nicholas Pooran, the team’s top scorer, who has accumulated 161 runs, including two half-centuries. If Pooran continues to fire, the Superchargers could make a serious push for the final.

As the Men’s Hundred 2024 heads into its final stretch, the Oval Invincibles, Southern Brave, and Northern Superchargers look set to be the last three teams standing. The Invincibles are poised to clinch the top spot and secure a direct berth in the final, while Southern Brave and Northern Superchargers are likely to face off in the Eliminator.

Legendary Unbeaten Partnerships in the History of Test Cricket

In the rich history of Test cricket, there have been several legendary partnerships that not only defined matches but also carved out a niche in the annals of the sport. These partnerships were remarkable not just for the sheer number of runs scored but also for the resilience, skill, and determination displayed by the players involved. This blog delves into some of the most legendary unbeaten partnerships in Test cricket, showcasing the tenacity and brilliance of these cricketing duos.

Boeta Dippenaar and Jacques Rudolph (South Africa): 429* Runs

Legendary Unbeaten Partnerships in the History of Test Cricket Boeta Dippenaar and Jacques Rudolph

In April 2003 at Chattogram South Africa’s Boeta Dippenaar and Jacques Rudolph turned the pitch into their personal stage of glory. After South Africa found themselves at 2/41 in their second innings, Dippenaar and Rudolph came together to script history.

The pair put on an unbeaten 429-run stand for the third wicket, completely demoralizing the Bangladeshi bowlers. Dippenaar, known for his solid technique and patience, complemented Rudolph’s flair and stroke play. Together, they took South Africa to a commanding position, eventually declaring at 2/470.

Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis (South Africa): 377* Runs

Fast forward to July 2012, at The Oval in London, where South Africa took on England in a much-anticipated Test match. After losing two wickets with 260 runs on the board, South Africa needed stability and a big partnership to put them in a dominant position.

With an unbeaten 377-run alliance for the third wicket they turned their innings into an epic saga. Their partnership took South Africa to a massive 2/637, setting a daunting task for England.

BJ Watling and Kane Williamson (New Zealand): 365* Runs

In January 2015, during a Test match against Sri Lanka in Wellington, New Zealand found themselves in a challenging situation at 5/159 in their third innings. The match seemed to be slipping away until BJ Watling and Kane Williamson came together.

Watling, the gritty wicketkeeper-batsman, and Williamson, one of the most technically sound batsmen of his generation, crafted an unbeaten 365-run partnership for the sixth wicket. This stand not only bailed New Zealand out of trouble but also put them in a commanding position with a total of 5/524 declared.

Ijaz Ahmed and Inzamam-ul-Haq (Pakistan): 352* Runs

Back in March 1999, during a Test match against Sri Lanka in Dhaka, Pakistan was in a spot of bother at 2/117 in their second innings. However, what followed was a historic partnership between Ijaz Ahmed and Inzamam-ul-Haq.

Ijaz Ahmed, known for his aggressive batting, and Inzamam-ul-Haq, one of Pakistan’s finest middle-order batsmen, stitched together an unbeaten 352-run partnership for the third wicket. Their partnership took Pakistan from a precarious situation to a commanding 2/469 declared.

Sunil Gavaskar and Dilip Vengsarkar (India): 344* Runs

In December 1978, during a Test match against the mighty West Indies at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, India was under pressure at 1/17 in their third innings. The Indian team needed a strong partnership to counter the formidable West Indian bowling attack.

Sunil Gavaskar, the Little Master, and Dilip Vengsarkar, known for his stylish batting, came together to form a legendary unbeaten 344-run partnership for the second wicket. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s Importance in India’s ODI Setup

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s Importance in India’s ODI Setup

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohlis Importance in Indias ODI Setup

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are two of the most iconic figures in Indian cricket, revered for their consistency, leadership, and ability to deliver under pressure. After retiring from T20Is following India’s triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies, their return to the ODI format against Sri Lanka marked a significant moment in Indian cricket. Although India unexpectedly lost the ODI series to Sri Lanka 0-2, the importance of Rohit and Virat to India’s ODI setup remains undeniable. Here’s why these two stalwarts are indispensable to the team.

One of the most critical aspects that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli bring to the Indian ODI team is their vast experience. In international cricket, experience is often the difference between winning and losing. Both players have been cornerstones of India’s batting lineup for over a decade.

With 13,848 runs in 280 ODI innings, including 50 centuries and 72 half-centuries, Kohli is one of the most prolific run-scorers in the history of the game. His ability to anchor the innings and perform in high-pressure situations is unmatched.

Rohit, with over 10,000 ODI runs, is the only player in the world to have scored three double centuries in this format. His knack for scoring big runs and his composure at the crease are invaluable to the team.

Their presence on the field not only boosts the morale of the team but also puts immense pressure on the opposition. Bowlers know they are up against two of the most formidable batsmen in the world, which can lead to mistakes and opportunities for India.

Rohit and Virat’s success isn’t limited to just home conditions. They have excelled in almost every country where ODIs are played, showcasing their adaptability and skill. The ODI format requires more than just power-hitting; it demands patience, the ability to read the game, and the experience to judge conditions, something that both these players excel at.

Both have a deep understanding of how to pace an innings, rotate the strike, and accelerate when needed. Whether it’s taking singles during the middle overs or finding boundaries in the death overs, they have mastered the art of ODI batting.

Unlike the shorter T20 format, ODIs require batters to build their innings over a longer period, something that Rohit and Virat have perfected. Their ability to construct innings and their consistency make them invaluable assets in any condition.

While India’s T20 squad is brimming with young talent like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Ruturaj Gaikwad, the same depth isn’t evident in the ODI format. The primary reason behind Rohit and Virat’s retirement from T20Is was to make way for this young talent. However, when it comes to ODIs, the duo remains irreplaceable.

The younger players, while promising in T20s and the IPL, have yet to prove themselves consistently in the 50-over format. The patience and tactical awareness required in ODIs take time to develop, and the current crop of young batters hasn’t reached that level yet.

With Rohit and Virat still performing at a high level in ODIs, it’s clear that India doesn’t have ready-made replacements. The team relies heavily on their experience and skill, making it difficult to imagine an ODI side without them at least for the next two years.

Hendricks’ strike rate of 94.47 indicates that he was more focused on building partnerships and playing the role of an anchor. Although he did not register any half-centuries, his highest score of 39 showed that he was often the player to build the innings around. With 15 fours and five sixes to his name.

Beau Webster (Brampton Wolves): 139 Runs

Webster’s strike rate of 110.31 reflects his ability to balance aggression with caution. Although he didn’t reach a half-century, his highest score of 49* was a critical innings that helped his team secure a victory. With 10 fours and seven sixes.

Key Fixtures for Team India’s Upcoming ODI Series

Key Fixtures for Team India’s Upcoming ODI Series

Key Fixtures for Team India’s Upcoming ODI Series

After a shocking 0-2 defeat against Sri Lanka in their recent ODI series, Team India is gearing up for their next big challenge. Despite entering the series as heavy favorites after a dominant 3-0 whitewash in the T20Is, India faltered against Sri Lanka, marking their first bilateral ODI series loss to the Lankans since 1997. The unexpected result has left fans eager to see how Rohit Sharma and his men will bounce back in their next 50-over assignment.

India vs England ODI Series 2025

India’s next ODI challenge will be against England, starting on February 6, 2025. The series will kick off at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur, followed by matches at the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, on February 9, and the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on February 12. This series will be pivotal for both teams as they fine-tune their squads ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy, making its comeback after an eight-year hiatus.

The India vs England ODI series promises to be a gripping contest, as both teams have a point to prove. England, known for their aggressive brand of cricket, will test India’s bowling attack, especially in home conditions where spinners could play a crucial role. Conversely, India’s batting lineup will need to show resilience and adaptability against England’s formidable pace attack.

Given that the series will be played in early February, conditions across the three venues are likely to be dry, with pitches expected to offer some assistance to spinners. Nagpur and Cuttack, in particular, could see low and slow surfaces, testing the batters’ technique and patience. Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, known for its dual nature, might offer something for both spinners and fast bowlers, making the third ODI a potential decider.

The last time India and England faced off in an ODI series was in 2022 in the United Kingdom, where India emerged victorious with a 2-1 series win. The Men in Blue started the series with a dominant 10-wicket win at The Oval, only for England to bounce back in the second ODI at Lord’s with a convincing 100-run victory. The series decider in Manchester saw India chase down 260 in just 42.1 overs, clinching the series with five wickets in hand. This history sets the stage for another intense showdown in 2025, with both teams looking to assert their dominance.

Why This Series Matters

This upcoming series against England is not just another bilateral contest; it’s a critical opportunity for India to assess their strengths and weaknesses before the ICC Champions Trophy. For players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah, this series could be a final chance to fine-tune their form. Meanwhile, emerging talents will aim to make a strong case for their inclusion in the Champions Trophy squad.

Moreover, given India’s recent struggles in ODIs, this series will be a litmus test for their strategies, particularly in dealing with pressure situations and finding the right balance in their playing XI. England, with their aggressive style, will push India to their limits, ensuring that the Men in Blue are well-prepared for the challenges that lie ahead in 2025.

Northern Superchargers vs Manchester Originals (Match 27) – Highlights

In this article, we will discuss the intense 27th match of The Hundred Men’s Competition, where Northern Superchargers secured a nail-biting seven-wicket win over Manchester Originals at Old Trafford. The match saw Manchester Originals post a challenging total of 152/7, with Phil Salt’s 61 leading the way. However, Nicholas Pooran’s explosive unbeaten 66 off 33 balls turned the tide in favor of the Superchargers, who chased down the target with just three balls to spare. This victory not only kept the Superchargers in the hunt for the knock-out stages but also highlighted Pooran’s crucial role in their campaign.

Northern Superchargers clinched a thrilling seven-wicket victory over Manchester Originals in the 27th match of The Hundred Men’s Competition at Old Trafford. Chasing a target of 153, Nicholas Pooran starred with a blistering 66* off 33 balls, guiding the Superchargers to 156/3 with three balls to spare.

Earlier, Manchester Originals posted 152/7, with Phil Salt top-scoring with 61. Mitchell Santner impressed with the ball, taking 3/24 for the Superchargers. Pooran’s match-winning knock earned him the Player of the Match award, keeping his team’s hopes alive for the knock-out stages.

Nicholas Pooran delivered a stunning performance, blasting 66 off just 33 balls with eight towering sixes, to lead Northern Superchargers to a thrilling seven-wicket victory over Manchester Originals in The Hundred.

However, the win was overshadowed by a potential hamstring injury to England’s Test captain, Ben Stokes, which raises concerns ahead of the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, starting on August 21 in Manchester. Stokes is scheduled for scans on Monday to assess the severity of the injury.

Pooran, who has been in exceptional form throughout the tournament, entered the fray at a precarious 29 for 2, with the Superchargers needing over 100 runs to win after Phil Salt propelled Manchester Originals to a formidable 156 for 3.

Despite the challenging situation, Pooran’s explosive knock kept his team in contention, ultimately securing victory 62 balls later and keeping the Superchargers’ playoff hopes alive.

The match had swung in favor of the Originals at several points, particularly when Salt led them to the highest-ever powerplay score, and again during the Superchargers’ chase when they required 124 from the final 60 balls.

However, the Superchargers’ spinners managed to slow down the Originals’ scoring, keeping the chase within reach. Pooran, alongside Harry Brook and Adam Hose, delivered a superb batting display to clinch the win.

The day featured top-quality batting, aided by a pitch at Emirates Old Trafford that offered plenty for the batters. After a similar high-scoring encounter in the women’s game earlier, Phil Salt and Max Holden gave the Originals a strong start, reaching 86 for 2 by the 34th ball. But the Superchargers managed to rein in the Originals’ momentum, giving themselves a fighting chance at the halfway mark.

Andrew Flintoff’s Superchargers benefited from Pooran’s heroics, as he once again showcased his ability to take on bowlers with ease, receiving vital support from Brook and Hose. This win means the Superchargers must now defeat London Spirit at Headingley on Tuesday to secure a spot in the knock-out stages.

Oval Invincibles vs London Spirit (Match 26) – Highlights

In this article, we will discuss the 26th match of The Hundred Men’s Competition, where Oval Invincibles delivered a commanding performance to defeat London Spirit by nine wickets at The Oval. The match saw London Spirit struggle with the bat, posting a modest total of 96, largely due to Adam Zampa’s brilliant 4 for 17.

Oval Invincibles made light work of the chase, as Jordan Cox turned into a boundary-hitting machine, smashing an unbeaten 61. With 37 balls still left in the bank, Cox and company strolled to victory, leaving the opposition wondering if they should have set a target or just offered tea instead.

Adam Zampa was the standout bowler for the Invincibles, taking 4 for 17 to dismantle the Spirit’s batting lineup. In response, Jordan Cox led the chase with an unbeaten 61 off 30 balls, guiding the Invincibles to 100/1 in just 63 balls. The victory, achieved with 37 balls to spare, also ensured Zampa was named Player of the Match.

Oval Invincibles waltzed into the knock-out stages of The Hundred, making it look easier than a Sunday afternoon net session. Jordan Cox stole the show with a dazzling fifty, leaving London Spirit more like London Fog as they vanished from the contest at The Kia Oval! Cox, who recently earned a spot in the England Men’s Test team, continued his stellar form by finishing unbeaten on 61 from just 30 balls, sealing a nine-wicket victory with a flourish.

The match was effectively over by the halfway point, as London Spirit, already out of contention for the tournament, managed only 96 runs in their first innings. Despite a promising start from Michael Pepper, who scored 27 off 18 balls during the powerplay, his dismissal by Adam Zampa triggered a collapse.

Zampa, who has been in excellent form throughout the tournament, ripped through the Spirit’s middle order, claiming 4 for 17. The Spirit’s batting woes deepened as they slumped to 52 for 5, with key players like Ollie Pope, Shimron Hetmyer, and Andre Russell dismissed in quick succession.

Ollie Stone, also named in England’s squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, bowled with intent as London Spirit attempted to defend their meager total. However, the Invincibles’ chase was never in doubt, and Cox ensured a swift conclusion, wrapping up the game with 37 balls to spare.

With this victory, Sam Billings’ Oval Invincibles, who have won six of their seven matches, have secured a top-three finish in the men’s competition. Their final match against Trent Rockets will determine whether they advance directly to The Hundred Final on August 18 or must compete in The Hundred Eliminator the day before.
