Vaughn’s question on the Australia-Afghanistan issue

Vaughn’s question on the Australia-Afghanistan issue

Afghanistan has risen rapidly in the world of cricket. Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Mujib ur Rahman have become world stars in a very short time. But there are many limitations of cricket in that country. Women are completely banned from playing cricket in the country. This decision has been taken since the Taliban government came to power in Afghanistan. Because of which they have to face criticism.

The Australian Cricket Board has been protesting Afghanistan’s decision on women’s cricket. Despite protesting earlier and not playing a Test match, team Australia has canceled the series. However, against their decision, the Afghans also boycotted the Big Bash. But the former England cricketer Michael Vaughan brought up a different topic.

According to Vaughan, Australia should not play against Afghanistan in the World Cup if they cannot play in the bilateral series. This former England cricketer feels that the tone of protest should be the same everywhere. Along with that, Vaughn brought up one more thing in this context. Australia also played against Afghans in the last Twenty20 World Cup. In a message given on social media, Vaughan threw questions.

In this context, Vaughan wrote, “Won’t Australia play against Afghanistan in the 2023 ODI World Cup? Didn’t they play against Afghanistan in the T20 World Cup at the end of 2022? Of course, there is logic in the question of the English legend. Because, just a few months ago, Australia played a World Cup match against the Afghans. But the bilateral series is full of all objections!

Note that the 2023 ODI World Cup will be held in round robin format. Where the 10 teams of the main stage will play against each other. That is why Afghanistan will definitely face Australia. But if they don’t play there, it will be a loss for Australia. If Australia does not play as per ICC rules, Afghans will get full points. As they are getting in the bilateral series.
