Afridi wants alternative players to Babar in ODI World Cup
Shahid Afridi’s Strategy – Providing Alternatives to Babar Azam for ODI World Cup Success The cricketing world is abuzz with anticipation as the thirteenth
From the beginning of the ninth season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), there has been controversy and debate. Among them, the most talked about – were criticised incidents, and wrong decisions of umpires. So far, several cricketers have been embroiled in controversies due to wrong decisions by umpires. This time, Nurul Hasan Sohan and Harris Rauf of Rangpur Riders were punished for arguing with the umpires.
Umpire calls a ‘no ball’ in Sylhet Strikers vs Rangpur match. But Rangpur captain Sohan could not accept that decision. He spoke to the umpire about the matter. At one stage, Sohan lost his temper. His body language is also clear proof. Pakistani Rauf is also seen arguing. However, both had to face punishment at the end of the match.
According to rules, Sohan and Rauf have violated the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Code of Conduct Level-1. That is why the umpires complained against these two cricketers after the match. And based on that complaint, Sohan has been fined 30 per cent of the match fee and added 1 demerit point. On the other hand, 1 demerit point has been added next to Rauf’s name.
Meanwhile, both Sohan and Rauf accepted their punishment. Because of that no further formal hearing was required. Sohan was punished for the second time in the ongoing BPL. Earlier he also violated the code of conduct against Fortune Barisal. At that time he was fined 15 per cent of the match fee and given 1 demerit point. As a result, Sohan’s current demerit points are 2.
Meanwhile, BPL still has several more matches left. In that case, if there is no injury, Sohan is expected to play in all the games. But if those matches get involved in untoward incidents, the loss will be Sohan’s. Because with just 1 more demerit point, this wicket-keeper batsman will be banned for one match. This, however, is not the BCB, but the ICC itself.
BCB has been saying since the beginning that they want to make the BPL controversy-free. But the debate is not leaving behind anything in this event. Since there is no DRS, the controversial decisions of the umpires have been spreading heat in the BPL since the beginning. This cricket tournament is being criticized.
