Who to be vice-captain of India instead of Rahul?

Lokesh Rahul is no longer the vice-captain of the Indian ODI cricket team. Hardik Pandya has been appointed as the new vice-captain in ODI cricket. But the new vice-captain in Test cricket is yet to be known. However, the captain of the Indian team Rohit Sharma will decide who will get this responsibility. According to the Indian Cricket Board sources, this power is in the hands of the captain of the Indian team.

Rahul got the responsibility of vice-captain for the first time in 2022. He also captained in Rohit’s absence in a series against South Africa. Rahul also served as captain in two Tests against Bangladesh last December. Due to Rohit’s injury, he could not enter the field. But Rahul is not in rhythm with the bat. A few days ago, there was criticism about him. Why is he getting a chance in the team despite not being in rhythm, the question has been raised. This time maybe Rahul has to pay the price of not being in the rhythm.

India have not named a vice-captain for the series against Australia. In this regard, a BCCI official said, “Who will be the vice-captain of the Test team has not been announced. And Rohit has been given the responsibility of carrying out this responsibility. He will decide who will be the vice-captain. If ever Rohit cannot be in the team, Rohit will also decide who will be given the responsibility. Whoever he tells will get this responsibility.”

It is to be noted that Rahul has played a total of 7 Tests since taking over as vice-captain. But he could not score runs in any test. Scored an innings of 50 runs only once. A total of 175 runs came from his bat in 7 Tests. As the vice-captain’s name has not been announced for the Test against Australia, there are fears about his place in the team’s starting XI. On the one hand, Rahul is not in form with the bat, on the other hand, Shubman Gill is in great rhythm. Even if he is given a chance in the third Test, it won’t be surprising.

Rahul replaced Rohit as the captain in the Test series tour of Bangladesh but Cheteshwar Pujara was under him. But he was also not made vice-captain. And since Rohit has this power in his hands, it is believed that Rohit can leave the field giving the leadership to the former team captain Virat Kohli. However, the board did not say anything about it.
