Babar Azam clarifies the reason for standing by Kohli’s side at difficult times

During India’s tour of England, things were not going well for Kohli. At that time Pakistan captain Babar Azam tweeted to Kohli. He wrote, “Times may not be going well now. But these tough times will pass one day. Just keep yourself mentally strong. Good times will surely come.” And Kohli also replied to this tweet. Thanking the Pakistan captain, he wrote, “Thank you. You shine brighter, may you have a better path ahead. Go further in life. Wish you all the best.”

The tweets of two of the best batsmen of the two arch-rival countries started a stir on social media. Now Babar Azam opened up with that tweet. Recently he said in an interview, “A person’s life can have good or bad times. Same goes for a cricketer. His career can have both ups and downs. At that time, I thought, if I tweet something, it might help someone. So, I did. And look, I myself am a cricketer. And as a cricketer, I should stand by every cricketer going through tough times. And that’s what I did.”

Babar added, “Look, you only know what other people think of you when you’re going through the toughest time of your career. And honestly, that was the right time for me. I thought, maybe something positive can come out of it. That’s something that can help Kohli. That’s why I tweeted that.”

Meanwhile, Kohli made a great comeback last year. He scored his 71st career century against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup. After that, within a few days, he got the 72nd, 73rd and 74th centuries.
