However, last year’s finalists returned to the rhythm of victory after one match. Titans beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 3 wickets on Sunday (April 21). On the other hand, Punjab Kings tasted the fourth loss in a row.
Batting first in the second match of the day on Sunday, Punjab Kings gave the Titans an easy target of 143 runs. In response, Gujarat Titans won with 5 balls and 3 wickets.

However, the Titans reached the goal of victory by forming small pairs. 25 runs were needed to win in the last 3 overs with 5 wickets in hand for The Titans. But in the 18th over of the innings, Kagiso Rabada gave 20 runs coming into the attack, and PBKS was knocked out of the match. In that over, GT’s victory was almost assured.
In the last 12 balls, GT needed only 5 runs to win. That was picked up by GT’s batters with 5 balls left in the innings. For the Titans, Azmatullah Omarzai scored 13 runs, Sudharsan scored 31 runs and Rahul Tewatia was unbeaten with 36 runs off 18 balls. Harshal Patel took the maximum number of 3 wickets for Punjab Kings. Apart from this, Liam Livingstone got two wickets.
Earlier, PBKS’ two openers Sam Curran and Prabhsimran Singh got off to a great start by winning the toss and batting first. 51 runs came from the bat of both. Prabhsimran returned to the pavilion with 35 runs off 21 balls.
Protea batsman Rilee Rossouw could not shine with the bat that day. He was caught leg before by Noor Ahmad after scoring 9 runs off 7 balls. Then Sam Curran was the victim of Afghan spinner Rashid Khan scoring 20 runs off 19 balls. Punjab Kings lost rhythm by losing three wickets with a gap of 15 runs.
PBKS kept losing wickets at regular intervals. In the end, Punjab Kings got a fighting capital of 142 runs in the scheduled 20 overs based on Harpreet Brar’s 12-ball 29-run innings.
Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore bowled brilliantly for GT. He took the highest number of 4 wickets with 33 runs in 4 overs. As a result, he was also selected as the player of the match. Apart from this, Noor Ahmad and Mohit Sharma took 2 wickets each and Rashid Khan picked up 1 wicket.
Gujarat Titans have climbed to the 6th position in the points table with 8 points from 8 matches with 4 wins and 4 losses. On the other hand, Punjab Kings are also in the 9th position in the standings with 4 points from two wins and six losses playing the same number of matches.
