Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) finally got the desired win after 6 consecutive losses. The team at the bottom of the points table gave a taste of defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who were flying with consecutive victories.

 

Royal Challengers won by 35 runs in the 34th match of IPL on Thursday (April 25). Chasing the big target of 207 runs, Sunrisers’ innings stopped at 171 runs after losing 8 wickets at the end of the scheduled 20 overs.

 

The Sunrisers batsman falling trap of the bowling canon of RCB bowlers right from the start in the run chase at home. Opener Abhishek Sharma played a stormy innings of 31 runs off 13 balls but the rest of the top-order batsmen failed. Travis Head was 1 from 3 balls and Aiden Markram was out for 7 runs from 8 balls. SRH accepted the defeat early after losing the top five batsmen for 69 runs. Shahbaz Ahmed remained unbeaten on 40 runs from 37 balls amid the helpless surrender of his teammates. Besides, captain Pat Cummins played an innings of 31 runs off 15 balls. Although the innings of both were not very important, the margin of defeat decreased.

 

Cameron Green, Karn Sharma, and Swapnil Singh picked up 2 wickets each for Royal Challengers bowling. Also, Yash Dayal got 1 wicket.

 

Earlier, RCB won the toss and decided to bat at the opponent’s home ground. On one side, Virat Kohli batted slowly, but on the other side, captain Faf du Plessis started to storm. T Natarajan broke their pair of 48 runs. Du Plessis returned to the pavilion with 3 fours and 1 six, 25 runs off 12 balls caught by Markram.

 

Then Will Jacks came to the wicket and could not do much good. He was bowled by Mayank Markande after scoring 6 runs off 9 balls. Rajat Patidar came to the wicket and played a devastating innings after Jack’s departure. Kohli was unbeaten on 34 off 21 balls when he came to the crease. But Patidar took fifty before that.

 

Patidar reached the half-century milestone in 19 balls with a four-six flurry that kept Kohli aside. He was finally stopped by Jaydev Unadkat in the 13th over of the innings. With two fours and five sixes in 20 balls, he scored fifty runs. He was also selected as the player of the match for this impeccable inning.

 

On the other hand, Kohli picked up his fifty in 39 balls, with 4 fours and 1 six. Unadkat also showed him the way to the dressing room. His innings stopped at 51 runs off 43 balls. In the end, RCB collected two hundred with Green’s stormy innings of 37 runs from 20 balls. Unadkat took the maximum of 3 wickets at the cost of 30 runs for SRH.

 

After 6 consecutive losses, RCB got their second win in the tournament, but there was no improvement in the points table. They are at the bottom of the points table with 4 points in 9 matches. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad are in the third position with 10 points in 8 matches.
