South Africa vs West Indies (3rd ODI) – Highlights

South Africa and West Indies met in the final match of the three-match ODI series yesterday (March 21). 1st match was abandoned due to rain. West Indies snatched victory in the 2nd match. In the 3rd match, South Africa’s great performance tied the series. Batting first in that match, West Indies folded before the scheduled 50 overs were over.

After chasing that target, the Proteas reached the port of victory with about 20 overs in hand. Also, Heinrich Klaasen won the man of the match title with great batting. Besides, Heinrich Klaasen and Shai Hope jointly made their name in the Man of the Series.

Proteas won the toss and elected to bowl first and invited West Indies to bat. Batting first, Brandon King and Kyle Myers got off to a good start. The two also made a partnership of 39 runs for the 1st wicket. But Kyle Myers couldn’t keep up with Brandon King for long. After scoring 14 runs off 22 balls with the help of 1 four and 1 six, he had to be caught out and left the field.

Then Shamarh Brooks entered the field, he also could not last long on the field. He was run out with 18 runs off 24 balls with the help of 2 fours. Brandon King, who scored the most runs for them, left the field after 2 overs. He made 72 off 72 balls with the help of 11 fours and 1 six. He was bowled out by a lungi’s ball and left the field.

Shai Hope, who scored a century in the previous match, did not play well. The captain scored just 16 runs off 27 balls before being dismissed. Then West Indies made a respectable total with the batting of Pooran and Jason Holder. Pooran scored 39 off 41 balls with 1 four and 3 sixes before leaving the field and Jason Holder scored 36 off 43 balls with 3 fours.

Besides, Rovman Powell scored 2 runs, Yannic Cariah scored 6 runs, Akeal Hossain scored 14 runs, and Odean Smith scored 17 runs. In the end, their innings stopped at 260 runs after losing 10 wickets with 25 extra runs.

Marco Jansen, Gerald Coetzee, and Bjorn Fortuin took 2 wickets each for South Africa. Besides, Wayne Parnell, Lungi Ngidi, and Aiden Markram took 1 wicket each.

In response to West Indies’ 260 in the 2nd innings, the Proteas won by losing 6 wickets with 20.3 balls to spare. In this third match of the series, South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen scored a century in pursuit of runs. His 54-ball century helped the hosts win by 4 wickets. Klaasen ended up unbeaten on 119 off 61 balls. His innings had 15 fours and 5 sixes.

Ryan Rickelton 3, Tony De Zorzi 21, Rassie van der Dusen 14, Aiden Markram 25, David Miller 17, and Marco Jansen scored 43 runs without Klassen’s hundred.

Alzarri Joseph took 3 wickets for the Caribbean. Akeal Hossain took 2 wickets. Besides, Kyle Myers took 1 wicket.
