The Toronto Nationals were soundly defeated by the Montreal Tigers in the 19th game of the Global T20 Canada 2024. After the Nationals were bowled out for just 52 runs, the Tigers took 11.3 overs to reach 56/3, their goal chased down. With four wickets taken for just thirteen runs, Kaleem Sana’s excellent bowling effort earned him the title of Player of the Match. With 51 balls remaining, the Tigers easily defeated the Nationals by 7 wickets because of his outstanding session, which was essential in their victory.
Toronto Nationals were dismissed for a low total of 52 runs in just 11.1 overs. Colin Munro, the captain, fell early for 1 run, and Unmukt Chand added only 2 runs before being dismissed. Andries Gous and Nicholas Kirton also contributed minimally, with 0 and 6 runs, respectively. The middle order struggled significantly, with Roston Chase and Mohammad Nawaz making 0 and 1 run each. Saad Bin Zafar was also dismissed without scoring. Jatinderpal Matharu top-scored with 12 runs, while Jason Behrendorff and Junaid Siddique added 7 and 9 runs respectively. The innings were wrapped up by Muhammad Rohid, who remained not out on 0.
The Toronto Nationals were limited to 52 runs by the Montreal Tigers’ bowlers. With three wickets at an economy rate of 5.50 for 22 runs in four overs, Azmatullah Omarzai spearheaded the attack. With an economy rate of 4.33 and four wickets for 13 runs in his three overs, Kaleem Sana was outstanding. While Corbin Bosch claimed two wickets for eleven runs in two overs, Aayan Afzal Khan chipped in with one wicket for six runs in 2.1 overs. Their combined efforts guaranteed the Tigers a commanding performance and a convincing win.
The Montreal Tigers finished at 56/3 in 11.3 overs after successfully chasing the 53-run goal. While Ashton Agar made five runs before being bowled out by Jason Behrendorff, Dilpreet Bajwa amassed twelve runs before being removed off the field by Jatinderpal Matharu. Parveen Kumar made nine more runs before Junaid Siddique got rid of him. With an unbroken score of 15 from 15 balls, captain Tim Seifert was instrumental, and Gerhard Erasmus provided support with four runs without a loss. With 51 balls remaining, the innings was finished, and extras added 11 runs to the total.
Toronto Nationals’ bowlers had a challenging time defending a low total of 52 runs. Jason Behrendorff was the most effective, taking 1 wicket for 7 runs in 2 overs at an economy rate of 3.50. Junaid Siddique also bowled well, claiming 1 wicket for 4 runs in 2 overs with an impressive economy of 2.00. Muhammad Rohid, despite conceding 15 runs in his 2 overs, had a higher economy rate of 7.50. Jatinderpal Matharu and Mohammad Nawaz gave away 13 and 10 runs respectively in their spells. Saad Bin Zafar was economical, conceding only 3 runs in his 2 overs but didn’t pick up any wickets.
