Cricket Highlights, 2 April: IPL 2023 (Match 5) – Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians

Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians (Match 5) – Highlights

At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, the fifth IPL match pitted Royal Challengers Bangalore against Mumbai Indians. After losing 7 wickets while batting first, Mumbai Indians amassed 171 runs because of the flamboyant batting of Tilak Varma. In response, Bangalore won by 8 wickets in just 16.2 overs, defeating the opposition’s goal (with 22 balls in hand).

The previous season also had a highly precarious situation for Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians. They were unable to escape that tight scenario even at the start of the current season. On the other hand, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis’ batting spree helped Royal Challengers Bangalore to defeat Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians. After losing to Royal Challengers Bangalore yesterday, Mumbai lost their 11th straight first IPL game of any season.

At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Royal Challengers skipper Faf du Plessis sent off Mumbai to bat first after winning the toss. Kohli’s Bangalore crushed Rohit’s Mumbai from the very beginning. Mohammad Siraj and Reece Topley’s bowling made Mumbai appear powerless. Batting first, what Rohit lacked on that particular day was his innings; he managed just one run from ten balls before getting out by Akashdeep Singh. Behind the wicket, Dinesh Karthik took that catch. Ishan Kishan was bowled by Siraj for 10 runs off 13 balls, and Cameron Green was dismissed for 5 runs by Topley.

One of the top players in Indian cricket, Suryakumar Yadav, went out for 15 runs. Tilak Varma, who stepped up to bat at number five, was unable to be stopped by the Bengalore’s bowlers. With 46 balls, he beat around the wicket for 84 runs. Hit 9 boundaries and 4 sixes. Varma eventually succeeds and was unbeatable.

Besides, no other batsman could score a significant number of runs. With just 13 balls, Nehal Wadhera scored 21 runs. Towards the conclusion, Arshad Khan scored 15 runs off 9 balls. In addition, Hrithik Shokeen scored 5 runs and Tim David scored 4 runs. In the end, Mumbai set a goal of 172 runs after the allotted 20 overs were completed with a loss of 7 wickets.

For Bangalore, Karan Sharma claimed two wickets. One wicket apiece was taken by Mohammad Siraj, Reece Topley, Akash Deep, Harshal Patel, and Michale Bracewell.

Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis’ batting enabled Bengaluru to win. Tilak Varma’s 84 runs from 46 balls, with retaining the edge, was not awful despite the opening tragedy. But in Kohli and du Plessis’ bat fury, the collection flew like straw.

To start the bat, Du Plessis and Virat Kohli established a fantastic partnership of 148 runs from 89 balls. Du Plessis was unbeaten at 82 runs off 49 balls with 6 boundaries and 5 sixes and Kohli was dismissed after scoring 73 runs off 43 balls with 5 boundaries and 6 sixes.

If Dinesh Karthik hadn’t been out for 0 runs, the winning margin could have been 9 wickets. On 12 runs, Maxwell was undefeated. At the conclusion of the game, they had won with 5 extra runs.

Moreover, Mumbai’s Arshad Khan and Cameron Green each claimed one wicket.
