Yesterday Sri Lanka and the Netherlands met in the final match of the ICC Qualifier Super Six. Batting first in that match, Sri Lanka set a moderate target. Chasing that target, the Netherlands folded before the end of the allotted overs. On the other hand, Sri Lanka won the final with a big victory of 128 runs. Also, Dilshan Madushanka won the Man of the Match title by bowling brilliantly for Sri Lanka. Besides, Zimbabwe’s Sean Williams took the title of man of the series.
The Netherlands’ incredible victory over Scotland guaranteed them a spot in the Indian World Cup. Even though the Dutch made an unexpected appearance in the World Cup, they were unable to repeat the feat in the qualification round’s championship game. They suffered a devastating defeat against Sri Lanka.
The game at the Sports Club stadium in Harare, Zimbabwe, had a low-scoring total. After losing the toss, the Lankans chose to bat first in front of the Dutch bowlers. In 47.5 overs, Dasun Shanaka’s side was dismissed for 233 runs.
The Sri Lankan spinners set the Netherlands batters a win target of 234 runs, but they were unable to withstand their firepower. In just 23.3 overs, they were all out for just 105 runs.
After losing the toss, Sri Lanka’s opening batsmen were batting effectively. Sadeera Samarawickrama scored 19 runs off 23 balls, and Pathum Nishanka scored 23 runs off 33 balls as the opener. Kusal Mendis hit five fours and one six to total 43 runs off 52 balls.
Sahan Arachchige scored a maximum of 57 runs off 71 balls with the help of four fours. In addition, Charith Asalanka scored 36 runs off 36 balls, including four fours. Vikramjit Singh scored 13 off 14 balls, and Logan van Beek scored an unbeaten 20 off 24 balls. The double-digit mansion was beyond the reach of the others. Aryan Dutt, Teja Nidamanuru, and Wesley Barresi were dropped for failing to score any runs.
7 runs were scored by Noah Croes off 6 balls. Only one run was scored by the captain. Additionally, Ryan Klein scored 2 runs in 7 balls and Clayton Floyd scored 9 runs in 7 balls.
For Sri Lanka, Maheesh Theekasana took 4 wickets. Dilshan Madhushanka took 3 wickets and Wanindu Hasaranga took 2 wickets.
