Women’s cricket is progressing along with men’s. The Women’s T20 World Cup is going to start on February 10. And this event is going to be held in South Africa. A few more days are left for this women’s cricket battle to start and the excitement will touch. But before that, ICC gave an exceptional surprise. The responsibility of managing the entire World Cup has been given to the shoulders of women.
ICC has recently announced the names of umpires and match referees for the Women’s Twenty20 World Cup. It can be seen there, all those in charge are women. A total of 10 umpires and 13 referees will be seen in the management of this Women’s World Cup. There are reasons behind this innovative decision. ICC wants to increase the interest of women around the world in cricket.
Meanwhile, the ICC is very excited to give such responsibility to women in a big event like the World Cup. ICC General Manager Wasim Khan said that the authorities had taken exceptional initiatives keeping in mind the rise of women’s cricket in recent times. This authority of women in match management is a message to all women in the world. Everyone will gradually become interested in cricket.
In this context, Wasim also said, “All the matches of the 2023 ICC Women’s Twenty20 World Cup will be officiated by women. This is a matter of great joy for us. Currently, the promotion and spread of women’s cricket are visible worldwide. Many are interested in taking up cricket as a profession. To further increase this interest, we have made this exceptional decision.”
However, it is uncertain how successful the ICC’s thinking will be. However, it is noticeable that the importance of women’s cricket is constantly increasing worldwide. Women are now competing with men in terms of financial opportunities. In many countries, equal pay rules have been introduced, eliminating discrimination. Another breakthrough is about to begin, the multi-crore women’s Indian Premier League (IPL). Where the salary of the players is going to be huge. ICC therefore strongly believes that the Women’s World Cup will also be managed well by women.
