Mashrafe Mortaza, the most successful captain of Bangladesh cricket, is now a past chapter in the national team. Despite retiring from the T20 format, the pacer has not yet officially announced his retirement from ODIs. Because of that, he still has the opportunity to play in the national team. Now, another former cricketer of the national team, Mohammad Ashraful, wants Mashrafe to play in the national team again. Recently Ashraful said this in an interview.
However, there is no option to perform in the domestic league before playing for the national team. Mashrafe is doing that job very well. The captain of Sylhet Strikers is in great rhythm with the ball in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He has taken 9 wickets from 6 matches so far. That is why Ashraful wants Mashrafe in the national team, who play the last ODI in 2020.
Ashraful praised Mashrafe’s performance in BPL. The former Tiger captain said, “Mashrafi’s performance is remarkable. We see that he is doing better than the young pacers in the BPL. Wicket-taking or economy, everything is good. He should be brought back to the national team. But whether he plays or not is the important thing. .”
Ashraful also spoke about not being able to play in the BPL. He said, “I miss playing in BPL. Actually when BPL happens, we are completely unemployed. There is no game on the field. In total there are 200-300 professional players in the domestic league. But only a few players get a chance in BPL. This is for us. Very bad timing. The board should think about this.”
Meanwhile, BPL still has half matches left. Whether Mashrafe can maintain his consistency in these matches, it remains to be seen. But whatever the performance, the return to the national team depends on the board and Mashrafe. So far Mashrafe has not opened his mouth on this issue. Silent role in board or team management.
