Indian cricketer TP Sudhindra was banned by the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) for spot-fixing. He was banned from cricket for life by the board. Now the BCCI has reduced that sentence. The BCCI reduced his sentence from life ban to 10 years and 8 months. BCCI Ombudsman Vineet Saran informed this news.

Sudhindra was accused of spot fixing in local cricket. In a covert operation against him, the board found evidence of this fixing. The board gave him a life ban as punishment. But based on his application, the disciplinary committee of the board has reduced the punishment period. And this Indian cricketer is happy that the lifetime ban has been lifted.

The 38-year-old cricketer said, “I’m happy to be back on the field. That’s what I wanted. All I want is to play. Right now I’m focusing on improving my fitness. I don’t want to remember what happened in the past. I’m thinking about the future now.I want to do something better in the future. And I want to plan how to do better. “

Sudhindra last played cricket in the IPL in May 2012. But that’s when the evidence of fixing was found against him. And after that, the board banned him from cricket for life from June 30. But Sudhindra’s sentence expired on February 10 due to the reduction of the punishment. So he can return to cricket again.

Meanwhile, BCCI has recently lifted a lifetime ban from another Indian cricketer. Ajit Chandiler was banned for life for spot-fixing. BCCI also reduced his sentence to seven years. In 2013, he was accused of spot-fixing in the IPL.

It should be noted that along with Sudhindra, there were allegations of spot fixing in local cricket against some other cricketers. They were also punished by the board. Former Uttar Pradesh fast bowler Shalav Srivastava was banned by the board for five years. Delhi all-rounder Abhinav Bali, Madhya Pradesh’s Manish Mishra and Goa all-rounder Amit Yadav have also been banned.
