Is Murali Vijay leaving India after not getting a chance in the team?

He has played 87 matches in all formats of cricket for the country. Scored 3982 runs at an average of 38.3 in 61 Tests. Indian cricketer Murali Vijay was once considered India’s number-one test opener abroad. But now he does not get a chance in the national team. For the country, there is no place for him in the team at home or abroad. This cricketer wants to leave the country after not getting a chance to play for the country. He wants to go and play abroad.

Vijay has played 61 Tests, 17 ODIs and 9 T20 matches for the country. Vijay played an essential role in India’s tour of England in 2014. But Vijay has now become unwanted. His runs are 2619 in 106 matches in IPL. Murali Vijay said in an interview recently, “I have been out of the national team for a long time. My relationship with the BCCI is almost over. This time I am looking for an opportunity to play abroad. I still want to play competitive cricket. I want to continue playing for some more time.”

A few days ago, Pakistani cricketer, Wahab Riaz claimed that according to the unwritten rules of Pakistan, cricketers are not given a chance in the national team if they cross the age of 30. Pointing to that direction, Vijay raised the question that the door of the national team has been closed because he has crossed the age of 30. According to Vijay, one should be judged by playing performance and not age. He said, “The emphasis should be given on performance, not age. Can’t we play for the country if we are over 30 years old? If a cricketer performs, then what is the problem? Everyone thinks we are 80 years old. Even after 30 years, there is no problem. One can be in the best rhythm and enjoy cricket. One needs to see who, how is playing.”

Vijay feels that the opportunity to play for the country is no longer in his hands, so he is looking for a chance to play for foreign countries. Vijay said in this context, “I am still enjoying the game. I still have a lot to give in cricket. But I am not getting a chance to prove myself. I don’t think I will get another chance in this country. It is not in my hands; it is in the hands of the selectors. But I want to play cricket. It’s up to me to find opportunities elsewhere. That’s what I’m trying to do from now on.”

After 2019, Vijay did not get a chance in the Indian team. He last played in the Tamil Nadu Premier League. He is no longer seen in the IPL. It is to be noted that earlier Indian cricketers left the country complaining of not getting a chance to play for the country. Indian cricketer Abhishek Chand has also left the country and is now playing for America. No wonder Vijay is following that path.
