BAN vs WI (2nd Test) – Highlights In a thrilling Test match, BAN triumphed over the WI by 101 runs in the second Test
After defeating Chennai Super Kings in the group stage, Royal Challengers Bangalore were eliminated from the eliminator. Kudos to RR, Rajasthan Royals beat them by 4 wickets. They will play Sunrisers Hyderabad in the second qualifier to reach the final on May 24.
Batting first, Bengaluru scored 172 runs for 8 wickets on Wednesday (May 22). In reply, Rajasthan anchored the port of victory with one over in hand. Ravichandran Ashwin who took 2 wickets with only 19 runs in 4 overs became the man of the match.
Tom Kohler Cadmore has been opening Rajasthan’s innings with Yaswasi Jaiswal since Jos Buttler’s return home. This English cricketer was not getting much success. He returned to the pavilion after scoring 20 runs off 15 balls against Bengaluru. Rajasthan lost the wickets of Jaiswal for 81 runs and Sanju Samson for 86 runs. Jaiswal scored 45 off 30 balls and Samson scored 17 runs.
Ryan Parag was fighting for the win with Dhruv Jurel. Jurel was out while taking 2 runs. He scored 8 runs off 8 balls. Then Shimron Hetmyer and Parag strengthened Rajasthan’s hopes of victory. They were not far from victory then. Mohammad Siraj allowed Bengaluru to return to the match by returning these two in the same over. He cost only 6 runs in the hunting over of Parag-Hetmyer. Parag scored 36 off 26 balls and Hetmyer scored 26 off 14 balls.
But in the next over, Rovman Powell single-handedly scored 14 runs to give Rajasthan victory. The West Indian batsman hit four in the first two balls of that over by Lockie Ferguson. After that, he had three consecutive dot balls, and then he hit a six on the last ball to confirm the win. Powell remained unbeaten with 16 runs off 8 balls. Ashwin did not have to face any ball.
Earlier, none of the Bengaluru batsmen could play a big innings after losing the toss in Ahmedabad. The maximum 34 runs came from the bat of impact player Rajat Patidar. He scored 2 fours and sixes in 22 balls. Besides, Kohli hit 33 off 24 balls, Cameron Green 27 off 21 balls and finally Mahipal Lomror hit two fours and two sixes off 17 balls for a 32-run innings. Bengaluru scored 172 runs depending on them.
Trent Boult took 1 wicket with just 16 runs in 4 overs. Rajasthan’s Avesh Khan got 3 wickets but spent 44 runs in 4 overs. Ravichandran Ashwin took two wickets for just 19 runs in the same over. Yuzvendra Chahal and Sandeep Sharma each took one wicket.
