Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Rajasthan Royals (Match 32) – Highlights

Rajasthan Royals (RR) needed 190 runs to win. Jos Buttler, surely thought to be a big name to chase this big target, got out in the first over. But Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal did not let the team understand his absence. After these two left, Dhruv Jurel and Ravichandran Ashwin took the match to the last over.

RR needed 20 runs to win in the last over, they had 5 wickets in hand to achieve that goal. It seemed easy for them to gain this objective. At that time there were two stable batsmen Jurel and Ashwin on the wicket. Although they were having a good time with the bat, they could not win over the Royals in the end.

RR could make 12 runs after losing the wicket of Ashwin from the last over bowled by Harshal Patel. Ashwin scored 10 runs from the first 3 balls. He got out on the fourth ball. As a result, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) under the leadership of Virat Kohli, ultimately won the game by 7 runs.

Despite losing the wicket of Buttler on 1 run coming down in the run chase, the Royals were not disoriented. Jaiswal and Padikkal’s 98-run second-wicket partnership was cruising them to victory. However, this pair broke in 11.4 overs, the team score was 99 runs then. Padikkal got out and returned with 7 fours and 1 six, scoring 52 runs from 34 balls. Then Jaiswal, who scored 47 runs in 37 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes, also walked back to the pavilion.

But Jurel and Ashwin kept the Royals’ hope alive. Ashwin scored 12 runs off 6 balls with 2 fours. And Jurel was unbeaten scoring 34 runs off 16 balls. He hit two fours and sixes. Harshal Patel was the most successful bowler of the Royal Challengers picking up 3 wickets for 32 runs in 4 overs. Besides, David Willey and Mohammed Siraj took 1 wicket each.

Earlier, Kohli, the RCB captain for the day, did not make a good start after losing the toss and propelled to be batting first. The captain himself got out on the first ball of the innings. However, Royal Challengers could score 189 runs losing 9 wickets in 20 overs due to Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell’s extraordinary batting prowess.

10 batsmen came down to bat for RCB in this match. Apart from Du Plessis and Maxwell, only one other batsman managed to make double-digit scores. He was Dinesh Karthik, who scored 16 runs off 13 balls. Du Plessis was run out for 62 off 39 balls, with 8 fours and 2 sixes. On the other hand, Maxwell played a devastating innings of 77 runs off 44 balls smashing 6 fours and 4 sixes.

Maxwell was also adjudged player of the match for this sharp innings. However, there is no batsman close to du Plessis in piling runs in this year’s IPL. He has batted in 7 matches for RCB. Where he made five fifty playing 7 matches. He scored 405 runs in all. Where no other batsman could score more than 300 runs.
