Afridi in severe criticism of Pakistan Cricket Board

Afridi in severe criticism of Pakistan Cricket Board

A few days ago, Pakistan’s ODI series against New Zealand ended. The Pakistan team lost the three-match series 2-1. Shahid Afridi was the chief selector of Pakistan team in this series. The Pakistan Cricket Board wanted to extend his tenure as chief selector after the series against New Zealand. But he did not take that responsibility and left the post of Chief Selector and strongly criticized the Shethi board.

Apart from his charity, Afridi has spoken in various places. On the extension of the chief selector’s tenure, Afridi said, “I have enjoyed working as the chief selector in the Pakistan Cricket Board. After the New Zealand series, PCB wanted to extend my tenure. But I did not agree for personal reasons, as I have commitments in various places besides charity. Due to lack of time. It was not possible to fulfill the duty due to scarcity. However, I would like to contribute to the country’s cricket by working for the development of U-19 level cricketers in the future. “

Shan Masood was given the co-captaincy for the ODI series against New Zealand. But Afridi did not like this work of PCB chairman. He recently made such a comment. According to him, Shetty should have trusted the chief selector or the captain. Afridi also said, “The post of co-captain is important in the team, Shaan Masood should not have been given the co-captainship by the board. The PCB chairman should have discussed the matter with the captain or the chief selector. The PCB chairman did not take my and Babar Azam’s opinion while appointing Masood as the co-captain.”

Meanwhile, the question about Babar’s captaincy is not new. Rumors of removing him from the captaincy were also strong. Afridi also wants to improve under Babar’s captaincy. However, he is not in favor of having different captains in the three formats of cricket. Afridi said, “Criticism about Babar’s captaincy has been going on for a long time. Babar has a lot of room for improvement as a captain, which he can work on. But I am not in favor of three captains in three editions. Rather, my opinion is that one person can be led for Tests and ODIs, and a different person can be led for T20I. I think it will be good for Pakistan cricket. “

It is to be noted that after Nazam Shetty took charge, Shetty’s first task was to make Shahid Afridi the chief selector. But the former Pakistan captain resigned from that post after the home series against New Zealand. But time will tell whether he will return to this duty again. This former Pakistan captain is currently busy with his charity work.
