Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 9th season is over. Comilla Victorians beat Sylhet Strikers to win the title. Beyond the success of the team, the reckoning continues with individual performances as well. Nazmul Hossain Shanto is the most talked about. The left-handed batsman was the best player of the tournament. He is also the highest run scorer.
Shanta has played for Sylhet in this BPL. His performance before the start of the tournament was spot on. But he has been batting rhythmically since the beginning of this franchise-based T20 league. Shanto scored a total of 516 runs with the bat at an average of 39.69. Which is the highest run record among Bangladeshi batsmen in a single season of BPL. However, his strike rate in this season is very low, only 116.74.
Fighting from the front with the bat, Shanto took Sylhet to the final. But could not bring the desired title. However, he received an award for personal success. The best player of the tournament award went to Shanta. He was also awarded as the highest run scorer. Rony Talukder (425) and Touhid Hriday (403) are second and third in run scorers.
On the other hand, Tanveer Islam has been the best bowler. This spinner from Comilla took 17 wickets in the tournament. Where he has an economy rate of 6.36, best bowling figures, 4 wickets for 33 runs. However, Rangpur Riders’ Hasan Mahmood (17 wickets) is joint top wicket-taker with Tanveer. They are followed by Nasir Hossain of Dhaka Dominators with 16 wickets.
It is to be noted that the cricketers in the list of the best have received a large amount of money in terms of prize money. In that case, Shanto received 10 lakh taka as the best player of the tournament and another 5 lakh taka as the best run collector. On the other hand, the pocket of the best wicket-taker got 5 lakhs. But apart from being financially rewarded, the cricketers are quite happy with the individual performance. They hope to play well in the future as well.
