BCB knew that foreign stars will not come to BPL

BCB knew that foreign stars will not come to BPL

After the publication of the schedule of the ninth season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), it became known that the BPL is going to clash with the T20 League of South Africa and the T20 League of the United Arab Emirates. It was known that the game would be held at the same time. Naturally, the other two tournaments are far ahead of the BPL regarding the quality of play and finances. Then fear was expressed that foreign cricketers will come to play in this country. Or will the players lean towards the other two leagues?

That idea has come true. This year’s BPL did not have a gathering of stars. T20 tournament, but there is no specialist Caribbean like Andre Russell or Sunil Narine. BPL could not attract players from big countries like England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia. However, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) already knew that foreign stars would not be available in this year’s BPL.

In this regard, Jalal Yunus, head of the cricket management department of BCB, said, “At the time we are having BPL, there are two other leagues going on at the same time in South Africa and UAE. The players are leaning there. Most of the players who used to play BPL are now playing in those two leagues. That’s why we didn’t get a foreign star this time. We already knew that.”

About this year’s BPL organization and current situation, Yunus further said, “We could have not organized this year’s BPL. But we wanted to continue this tournament anyway. There were several challenges. Finally, the game is happening. The best part is that the domestic players are doing well. The tournament is packed. That’s the kind of atmosphere we really wanted.”

Meanwhile, there are many Pakistani cricketers in the BPL. Those stars are playing BPL for almost every team. Although Shaheen Shah Afridi and Babar Azam are scheduled to play, they are yet to set foot in Bangladesh. Several star cricketers have also come from Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. If they did not come, this year’s BPL would have become completely lifeless.
