Bangladesh Cricket Board is starting a new rule to improve the annual performance of the cricketers. The performance of the cricketers will be reviewed every six months. More attention will be paid to who is playing how. And based on this, the annual contract may improve or deteriorate. This new decision has been taken by the board to make the cricketers pay more attention to their annual contracts. Chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu and board officer Jalal Yunus said this in the press conference.
About the annual contract with the cricketers, board official Jalal Yunus said, “We have brought some changes in the board. To improve the performance of the players, the cricketers under the contract will be judged every six months. We want consistent performance from the players. So, the Bangladesh Cricket Board wants, they should pay attention to contracts. Board has not decided yet whether a contracted player will be dropped if he performs badly. But we want healthy competition in the team. So BCB wants a healthy competition between the players to get into the annual contract of the board. This will further strengthen the country’s cricket pipeline.”
At the press conference, Board Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu said, “We want consistent performance. As a result of the new rule, the cricketers will not think that their place in the team is fixed. Everyone will focus more on playing consistently. But the contract will not change in six months. This rule is to bring healthy competition among cricketers of the country. All cricketers are equal to us, as a result of the new rule, everyone will know that if they play badly, they will be questioned, so there is no alternative to playing well.”
Meanwhile, there is a change in the coaching position of the Bangladesh Cricket Board. BCB is appointing a new coach after the team’s head coach Russell Domingo resigned. According to board sources, the coach has been appointed, now only formalities remain. Hathurusinghe will be the head coach of the Tigers. And the board wants Sridharan Sriram as Hathurusingha’s assistant. But Sriram objected to become an assistant coach. Sriram once came to Dhaka and discussed. BCB also informed that Sriram will be discussed again after the arrival of the head coach of the Tigers.
There have been many changes in the Bangladesh cricket team. Mushfiqur Rahim retired from short format cricket. After the failure of the last Asia Cup, he announced his retirement after coming to the country. Tamim Iqbal also said goodbye to T20 cricket. On the other hand, Mahmudullah Riyad has retired from Test cricket. Despite not retiring from T20, this all-rounder is not getting a place in the team. He may be kept in ODI cricket. There are several changes that Bangladesh cricket has made with the intention of improving the results of the team. Let’s see how the new changes bring benefits for Bangladesh cricket.
