Shahid Afridi’s Strategy – Providing Alternatives to Babar Azam for ODI World Cup Success The cricketing world is abuzz with anticipation as the thirteenth
There is no end to the controversies since the beginning of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). There have been deficiencies in various aspects on and off the field. The thing that has been missing the most is Decision Review System (DRS). Due to the lack of modern technology, it is difficult to manage the game properly. Due to this many incidents of wrong decisions by umpires have happened. Controversy about these has not diminished. Finally, DRS is added towards the end of the tournament.
There are only four matches left in the BPL. Eliminators, two qualifiers and the final. DRS arrangements for these matches are arranged by the BPL Governing Council. The technicians of DRS operator Haq Eye have already arrived in Bangladesh. As a result, it is said that there is no more obstacle to using DRS technology in the last four of BPL.
With the inclusion of DRS, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is finally getting some relief from criticism. But even if the technical problem is solved, BPL is facing a different problem. Pakistani cricketers have returned to their country from BPL. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has ordered Mohammad Rizwan to return home to participate in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). As a result, BPL has lost a lot of colour because of the departure of Pakistani star cricketers.
Meanwhile, even though the Pakistanis have left, the teams are bringing in stars from other countries. Already, T20 experts like Andre Russell and Sunil Narine have come. This T20 league is getting its life again with the arrival of foreigners at the end. Rangpur Riders, Comilla Victorians, Fortune Barisal and Sylhet Strikers have reached the last four of BPL. Now, these four teams will fight for the title in 22 yards of the field.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cricket Board is paying a huge amount to use DRS in BPL. 16 thousand USD per match. In Bangladesh currency is like 16 lakh taka. According to that, for the four matches of the playoffs, the expenditure from the pocket of the governing council is like 65 lakh rupees. By not having DRS throughout the tournament, the authorities have saved a huge amount of money. In the end, they are spending some money. Let’s see if the use of DRS reduces controversial decisions in umpiring.
