Hathurusinghe is once again the coach of Shakib-Tamim after putting an end to many speculations. BCB has already announced that he will get the responsibility of coaching the Bangladesh national team for the second term. However, before the official announcement of the board, it was known that Hathurusinghe is going to be the head coach of the Tigers. Only the formalities were left pending. Recently, formally it was informed by the BCB that Hathurusingha has become the coach. BCB sources said that he is coming to Bangladesh for two years this month. But what does Hathurusinghe himself say after being appointed as coach in the second phase?
Hathurusinghe is very excited to get the responsibility of the Bangladesh national team again. In an interview, Hathurusinghe said, “I have coached the Bangladesh national team before. It is a great opportunity for me to coach the team again. And I feel honored to get this opportunity. I have been there for a long time due to coaching in the first phase, I always like Bangladesh. Bangladesh is a cricket crazy nation, whenever I came here, I was impressed by the love of the people of this country. I like the warmth of the people of Bangladesh, the culture, the attraction towards cricket. The journey with Bangladeshi players will surely be great, looking forward to work. And looking forward to enjoy their success.”
BCB Chief Executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury sees it as an additional advantage for Hathurusingh to coach the Bangladesh team before. He said in the press conference, “He has worked with BCB before. Hathurusingha has ideas about Bangladesh cricket. And for this he will get additional benefits. From which the players of Bangladesh will also benefit. After coming to coach the Bangladesh national team in the first term, everyone from board officials to cricketers have expressed their satisfaction with his work. He’s a proven technician. He’s had a different impact. And we’ve seen his impact in the national team.”
Earlier, Hathurusinghe served as the coach of the Bangladesh national team from 2014 to 2017. After that, he went on a tour to South Africa and did not return from there. He left the job. After that, Russell Domingo was appointed as the head coach of the Tigers. Domingo resigned last December. And then BCB handed over the responsibility of the team to Hathurusingha.
It should be noted that the Bangladesh team had success under the coaching of Hathurusingh. At that time, Bangladesh won the ODI series for the first time against the superpowers India, Pakistan. Bangladesh also won the ODI series against South Africa. He had more achievements as a coach. Under his coaching, Bangladesh reached the quarterfinal of the 2015 World Cup. Bangladesh also won tests against England, Australia and Sri Lanka. This time, Hathuru’s test will begin with Bangladesh’s series against England.

Ticket sales will start from January 26. Match tickets will be sold at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium Ticket Counter and Sylhet District Stadium on every pre-match day and match day.
