Chandika Hathurusingha has been appointed as the head coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team for the second term. Now, the question is who Hathurusingha’s assistant will be. And anyone can apply for the post of assistant coach, both domestic and foreign. This has been informed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon spoke about this in an interview recently.
BCB president Papon said, “After the head coach, we now need an assistant coach. And we have also given advertisement for the assistant coach. There is a chance for everyone, local and foreign. I hope everyone will apply. It is a big opportunity for the local coaches too. If a local coach is available for this position. Either that, or we’ll give them a chance in another position.”
BCB was looking for his assistant after confirming the new head coach of the Tigers. And before that BCB officials wanted to discuss with Hathurusingha. As Hathurusingha came to Dhaka, the formalities were completed. Now it’s time to decide on the assistant coach. Hathurusingha has also shown interest in local coaches as his assistant.
About Hathuru’s plans for the national team, the BCB president told the media, “The coach usually meets me, talks to me. Be it at the hotel or at home. But he has just arrived. I haven’t talked to him yet. I’m here now because everyone can be found here. But talking to the selectors, I have come to know that he has come up with many ideas. He has also talked about how many times and how the batters got out. And he is also planning on these.
The ODI World Cup will be held at the end of this year. However, Hathurusingha is not planning for the World Cup right now. There is England series at home in March. For now it’s the target. Hathurusingha is thinking about the plans for the World Cup after the series. This is what the head coach of the Tigers said in his first press conference. BCB president clarified the matter again.
