The ICC reversed the decision and returned the points deducted from Pakistan

Last year, the ICC deducted points for the Test match against England in Rawalpindi after calling Pakistan’s pitch ‘bad’. That said, there was nothing for the bowlers on that pitch. But the ICC played a big game. The points deducted by Pakistan were returned. And the demerit points that were added there were also removed.

Last year Pakistan – England test match was held in Rawalpindi. There was nothing for the bowlers on the wicket in that match. Due to this the ICC called this pitch ‘bad’ and deducted Pakistan’s points. The then-board chief Ramiz Raja also said that. He said, “The wicket was embarrassing. When a former cricketer is the chairman of the board, such a wicket does not suit us. It is embarrassing. We are not such a cricketing nation. We can play better cricket.”

But Pakistan regained that point after Najam Shetty, the current chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, took over. Earlier this month, Sethi applied to the ICC for a review of the decision of that match. After that, the ICC re-examined the footage of the match. Then they felt that the pitch could not be called a ‘bad’ pitch in any way. So the ICC gave back Pakistan’s points. However, this has not happened before.

In an interview, Sethi said, “After becoming the chairman, I thought about this matter and wanted to take effective action. So I wrote a letter to the ICC to look into the matter. I told the ICC with a strong message that there are many stadiums in the world where bad pitches are made more than ours. That’s why The result of the match, let’s reconsider whether points can be deducted for that pitch. Finally, it’s great news for Pakistan that the ICC has accepted our demands and returned the points.”

Note that England scored 657 runs in the first innings of that match in Rawalpindi. Pakistan’s collection was 579 runs. Then in the second innings, England made 264 runs for 7 wickets. The target for Pakistan is 343 runs. In the end, England won the match by 74 runs. There, 37 wickets fell out of 40 wickets in the two innings of the two teams. The matter has now become the talk of the country in Pakistan as the ICC has returned the points to Pakistan. Many of the netizens are considering this as a result of Sethi’s worthy leadership.
