Warner skippered Delhi in Pant’s absence in IPL

Delhi Capitals are going to face a big loss in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). The team is not getting regular captain Rishabh Pant. Instead, David Warner will lead Delhi. This Australian batsman has the experience of leading the IPL before. He also got success leading Sunrisers Hyderabad. That’s probably why Delhi is putting their trust in Warner’s shoulder.

Delhi has already started practicing ahead of IPL. Their practice is in Kolkata, at Jadavpur University’s Salt Lake Campus. The players have started training there under Sourav Ganguly. After stepping down as the President of the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI), he took over as the Director of Cricket, Delhi. Taking this responsibility, Sourav corrects the mistakes of the players in practice.

Talking to the media on the sidelines of practice, Sourav said, “We will not get Panth this season.Instead we have fixed a new captain. Warner will lead Delhi. He has captained the IPL before. His experience and success, can be useful for our team. We want to trust him. Hopefully, Warner will make up for Panth’s lack of leadership in the team. “

Meanwhile, not all cricketers turned up for the practice in Delhi. But Sarfraz Khan, Yash Dhul, Mukesh Kumar and Abhishek Podel appeared in Sourav’s class. However, Abhishek has not yet been included in the team. The only reason he was called to the training camp was to find a domestic wicketkeeper instead of Pant. That’s why the cricket director of the team wants to test him in the initial trial.

Abhishek is more likely to survive in that trial. Since Panth will not play, this young wicketkeeper can be seen in the field as well. Meanwhile, Panth can be seen in the pavilion despite not being able to enter the field in the team’s jersey. A few days ago, Delhi head coach Ricky Ponting expressed his hope of seeing him in the pavilion. After the horrific car accident last December, the Indian wicket-keeper batsman is slowly recovering. Let’s see how Delhi fares under Warner’s leadership.
