What Does the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots Squad Look Like for CPL 2024?

As the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) gears up for its 12th season from August 30 to October 7, 2024, the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots are set to make a major comeback. After a dismal performance last season, where they finished at the bottom of the table with only one win from ten games, the Patriots have revamped their squad in hopes of reclaiming their glory days.

The 2023 season was a challenging one for the Patriots. Despite Evin Lewis’s leadership, the team struggled to find their form. Andre Fletcher emerged as a bright spot, leading the team’s batting with 278 runs, making him the top scorer for the Patriots. On the bowling front, Oshane Thomas was their leading wicket-taker, but his performance was underwhelming, with just nine wickets in seven innings.

Key Players Retained

Despite a challenging 2023 season, the Patriots have decided to retain several key players for 2024. Evin Lewis will continue to lead the team, offering both stability and experience. Joining him will be Andre Fletcher, whose standout performance last season makes his return particularly valuable. Sherfane Rutherford and Dominic Drakes will also be back, expected to add depth to the batting lineup and deliver essential overs in the middle and lower order.

New Additions

In a bid to strengthen their squad, the Patriots have made some significant signings for the 2024 season:

The Patriots’ squad features a dynamic mix of talent, starting with Rilee Rossouw and Tristan Stubbs, who will ignite the top and middle orders with their explosive batting. Tabraiz Shamsi’s leg-spin will be pivotal in the spin department, while Anrich Nortje brings pace and aggression to the attack. Wanindu Hasaranga adds balance as a valuable all-rounder, and Nuwan Thushara provides additional pace options. Unfortunately, Zimbabwean captain Sikandar Raza will miss the season due to injury, leaving the Patriots to find a replacement for his all-round capabilities.

Domestic Talent

The Patriots have strengthened their squad with a mix of international and domestic talent. Kyle Mayers and Odean Smith, known for their explosive play, will enhance both batting and bowling. Domestic players Johann Layne, Ryan John, Veerasammy Permaul, Ashmead Nedd, Mikyle Louis, and Joshua Da Silva will bring local expertise and valuable support throughout the tournament.

The CPL 2024 season kicks off on August 30 with the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots facing the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. With a revamped squad full of exciting talent and a mix of experienced campaigners, the Patriots are poised to make a strong statement this season.

The key to their success will be how well the new additions integrate with the retained players and how effectively they can balance their batting and bowling strengths. If the Patriots can gel well and overcome the setback of Raza’s absence, they could very well challenge for the title once again.

Stay tuned for an exciting CPL season and follow the journey of the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots as they aim to rise from last year’s disappointment and make their mark in the 2024 edition of the Caribbean Premier League.
